The Quran does indeed promise virgins in heaven (see verses below). The number "72" however, comes from the haddiths, as opposed to the Quran, but is still widely accepted.
Let me say first....upfront...I dont deny that its fun to do the analysis ofthis doctrine...and yes...I mean "fun" at the expense of the super self righteous people of the war religion.
First, its worth mentioning that, if you wanted to get young men to fight for a cause, what better way than to deprive their sexual impluses (Islam), funnel that rage toward an "enemy", and promise them satisfaction of their most powerful desires, after the performance of a violent deed (virgin-bag-bonaza).
Putting the obvious aside, what conclusions can we make about Allah and his heaven? Well, sex is evolution way to get us to mate...which is why...when we have sex...babies often result. So, Allah's virgin orgy is for what? Little astral babies?

Arent these virgins also sluts? After all, there purpose is to have sex with Jihadists....thats it...so they are all about sex...nothing else.
Do you have a real ejaculation in Islamic heaven, or is it just a mist of some sort? Do these virgins have real orgasms, or do they fake it? Keep in mind, if they are programmed to have an orgasm everytime, then they are essentially faking it, cause its only by the possiblity of not having one, that a real one can exist.

These are some verses in the Qur’an that I found where Allah will reward men with, and wed them to, voluptuous and beautiful virgins (houris) with large, beautiful eyes, of equal age, in the Garden of bliss and of pleasure. I did not find the number 72 nor any reward for women. (The following verses are Shakir’s translation to English.)
078.031 – 078.034 – Surely for those who guard (against evil) is achievement, Gardens and vineyards, And voluptuous women of equal age; And a pure cup.
037.040 – 037.048 - Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. For them is a known sustenance, Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, In gardens of pleasure, On thrones, facing each other. A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, White, delicious to those who drink. There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes;
044.051- 044.055 - Surely those who guard (against evil) are in a secure place, In gardens and springs; They shall wear of fine and thick silk, (sitting) face to face; Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones. They shall call therein for every fruit in security; [Houris are beautiful virgins.]
052.017 – 052.020 - Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones.
055.056 – 055.058 - In them shall be those who restrained their eyes; before them neither man nor jinni shall have touched them. Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? As though they were rubies and pearls.
056.011 – 056-012 - These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), In the gardens of bliss.
056.036 – 056.038 - Then We have made them virgins, Loving, equals in age, For the sake of the companions of the right hand.
A Muslim will be rewarded in the Garden of bliss or pleasure with houris. This Garden is different from the Christians’ concept of Heaven where the souls of believers of Jesus and righteous would go and will not experience hunger or thirst anymore. There is no more physical body to feed and to quench the thirst. It is just the immortal soul.

It simply shows that Muhammad's desires are what make up islam. He started out peaceful, but got nothing. Well, allah gave him the right to kill and fight. He started getting booty (all kinds!) and allah okayed that. What better way to keep the men around than promises of wine, wealth and women? Everything that he wanted was provided by allah with a new revelation. It's all very convenient for Muhammad and the men of islam. Do Muslim women get wide-eyed virgins in Heaven also? There's one hadith that says the Houris don't defecate, urinate or menstruate....that would suggest they are female. Is this what Muslim women get also since all "righteous" Muslims will receive them? Allah sounds too much like most men who have a problem with homosexual male relationships but don't mind the idea of woman-on-woman.

The Grumpy Truth Seeker you have mentioned discrepany among Quran and Hadith. I have read almost all major books of Adadith and Quran. I never found any discrepancy amonth that. You spoke but did not mentioned. 72 or less is depending upon situation and grade. And this number has baffled you to hurt people. Bible a true book tells prophet Solomon marrying and satisfying 1000 wives read bible again: Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) is told to have married seven hundred wives with three hundred concubines (1 Kings 11:14) and his son Rheboam married eighteen wives and sixty concubines (Chronicles 11:21) and Prophet Abijah (peace be upon him) is reported to have 14 wives (2-Chronicles13:21).
All of them were having a nice and happy life with earthly bodies. And heaven which is a place of unlimited blessings will have unnumbered and uncounted and unmeasured blessings.
As for you blamed Islam (meaning Peace) for terrorising. Some are compelled but most are really enemies of Islam. Bad muslim does not mean Islam. There are thieves, smuggler and criminal in muslim societies like other societies but they are not Islam. Like Carlos the Jackal or Hitler or Bush are good representatives of christians. There are good and bad. There are who give funds to poor countries and there are many who abduct girls for brothels. I think you might have read about London brothels or American teacher giving their peelols to small students. They are some so we do not say you are those.

Hadith further tells the number of Virgins there are to be there.

It is clear that this religion is just a man made one, in the old days they projected their most basic need that they can not achieve in this world, who can have 72 virgin girls in this world? then they just projected it there'll be 72 for us in heaven. Clearly it is a fake.
