If I sent out a bunch of party invitations to a bunch of people. The only ones who would get to enjoy the festivities would be those who actually took up the invitation and came.
I might have hand-picked a gift for each invited guest. But the only invited guests who would receive a gift would be those who came to the party and received the gift.
Of the many invited, only a few respond.

It means all people are invited to heaven but only a few are chosen. You should get a Bible Commentary that matches
your Bible (NIV). This will help you understand the Bible more clearly.

Many are Called, Few are Chosen.
This is not a "Get Into Heaven" Scripture---ALL all Wecome to get Saved (Romans 10:9).
This is a "Calling" AFTER you get Saved---to Work for GOD in a Mighty Way down here on the Earth!
Few are Chosen because "The Many" won't do what GOD says to do (AFTER they are Saved) to Walk in the Power of GOD, so that GOD can Work Through Them down here.
There All going to Heaven, but there will be Loss of Rewards for the Many.
What you have to do to Walk in the Power of GOD AFTER your Saved:
1.Get Filled with the Spirit
2.Learn how to Pray--English and in "Tongues"
3.Pray
4.Fast
5.Read the Bible (Alot, Diligently--Daily)
6.Study the Bible
7.attend Services (go to church building)
8.give up T.V. to read and study Bible
9.give up Eating (restaurants?) to Fast
10 so on and so on
You have to be Diligent in all of these Things for the Power of GOD to Flow Out of you into a Dry and Thirsty Land.
Another Scripture for Walking in the Power of GOD is this--the Road to Life is Narrow, Few their be that Find It.
Again, this is Not Talking About "Getting Saved and making it to Heaven".
It is about Walking in the Power of GOD After your Saved.
Hope this helps.

There are millions, billions, of Christians if you just list those who wish to be counted. But, few actually really have religion or that personal and harmonious relationship with God. Many read the Bible, but few really achieve religion.

Essentially it means that everyone has a chance to make the choices that will return them to the source.
In a given life time only a few will make these choices. Luckily we get to try again.
Love and blessings Don

The KJV says
For many are called, but few are chosen.
need to read the whole passage but it says Jesus is calling all to him but few chose to accept and heed the calling.
Matthew 7:13-15
13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

It means the offer of going to Heaven is open to many many people, but very few actually go.
Sadly.

It's a verse that compares the general gospel call which is to all people with the doctrine of election whereby God enables those whom He has chosen to respond to the call by the gift of faith and his Holy Spirit.
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out....44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
