The most preposterous notion that H. Sapiens has ever dreamed up is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of all the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of His creatures, can be swayed by their prayers, and becomes petulant if He does not receive this flattery. Yet this absurd fantasy, without a shred of evidence to bolster it, pays all the expenses of the oldest, largest, and least productive industry in all of history.

So did this inferiority complex we seem to have evolve or was it created in us? ;-)

WOW! You're the first person I've ever read who quoted Robert A. Heinlein! Good for you.

I'll tell you what I told him!

God neither needs us nor does He need our adoration.

I also reminded him of how he felt about Ginny and told him, now multiply that by any number you choose and you still have only the barest minimum of how much God loves.
Learn about what love really means and Himself and His ways will be much clearer to you. He shut up and went back to the refreshment table at that point.

It is pretty preposterous but at the time it probably seemed like a good idea. What's more preposterous is that people in the 21st century still buy it.

This shows your ignorance. There is quite a bit more than a "shred" of evidence to back up Christianity. Try researching it "off" the internet. You might come up with something worth posting.

Ignorance:
1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

Lazarus,"come out" He said.
Now live, and listen to your heart not vain imaginings of men, they are futile.
It has nothing to do with industries.

Agree.
But I would add that the MOST idiotic notion is the one about the deity itself.
And I wouldn't call it an industry, I'd call it a con-game. But that's just me.

Disagree.

The only thing "preposterous" and "absurd" in your question is your presumption.
