If its a very old piece, look at the Wedgwood museum web site, you might find a similar item there.

Look on auction house websites, you could get their names from the Yellow Pages, etc or go on a Wedgewood appreciation website (or something like that) they should have links of where you can find the value out. The Antiques Roadshow website should have some links too.
Otherwise take it to a dealer but make sure you get a few opinions as dealers can try to rip you off.

you would be better taking it to get an appraisal done, quite often an antique auction house will give you a fair idea because they think you will sell it through their house and they will get commission, wedgewood can be a bit of a minefield so make sure whoever you talk to knows their stuff, there has been a lot of copies made of this stuff, going way back, its always been reproduced, so perhaps a second opinion, as always would be in order,good luck
