I think Muslims get bashed entirely too much. Jehovah's Witnesses and LDS members get mistreated as well. If you're curious, I am a Christian of no specific denomination who believes in all 7 Sacraments and Apostolic Succession -- thus "my" (God's, actually) Church encompasses the Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, "Old Catholics," etc. Of the "parts" of this Church, the Roman Catholics seem to put up with the most hostility here.

This is a question, but it's also a request for us to treat one another with more respect. There's no excuse for being less than civil with one another.

I think R&S questions target Jehovah's Witnesses more than any other group.

Mind you, I'm not endorsing anything from the JW, just answering the question.

In general atheists aren't trusted as far as anybody can throw them....and for no good reason....

Ya know...atheists are the least trusted groups in America. It's been pretty much speculated that a homophobe would rather let a homosexual babysit their child than an atheist.

Ok that may be a bit of an overdramatization...but a study done here in the states did find that atheists are lowest on the totem pole as far as a group of people that most people trust....and for what reason? Simply because they're atheists.

It's all pretty silly, IMHO.

1) Scientologists (whether it's for a good reason or not)
2) Muslims, Mormons, JWs
3) Catholics
4) Atheists
5) Jews
6) Fundamentalist Christians
7) Other Protestant Christians

I agree about treating each other with respect. I feel like I spend a lot of time here defending religions that are being unjustly attacked by bigots.

I agree with you. To me, it seems like the Mormons, Catholics, and Muslims get the most heat, and it's unfair. Mostly because people make outrageous claims about all three while knowing little to nothing about any. Drives me nuts. Kinda like when a Christian feels compelled to ask how an atheist can manage in society since they have no morals. Just infuriates me.

I think anyone who shows that they follow a path that is somewhat 'differ ant ' to the wider known paths, can come under the 'prejudice' that has historically plagued human races. I have found sadly, that as a pagan, the most 'negative response I get is from Christians!
Yet my understanding has always been that Jesus made 'no differentiating between people from diverse backgrounds, &
promoted only 'love & Peace', shame that some of his follower's 'fail to pick up on this 'major tenet' of their path!

Actually I think any faith that is outside the Abrahamic religions is treated with the least respect. If I had a dime for every question I see like this:

"Religious people - Christians, Jews, Muslims...what is your...blah blah.."

You VERY RARELY see the inclusion of Hindus, Buddhists, Pagans in any general religious questions.

I think the animosity is equally distributed among all groups.

The internet provides anonymity, and with that anonymity comes honesty. A lot of people here (myself included) are expressing opinions that they wouldn't or couldn't express in everyday casual conversation.

The entire purpose of this forum (supposedly) is to provide a voice for everyone. Some people can't handle the honesty, and punch the "Report It" button, which says more about their ability to accept opposite opinions than the person expressing the opinion.

There are very few wrong answers here; there are only opinions.

Muslims and Mormons both get it from both sides of the debate here. Catholics to a point.

Catholics aren't Christian. Maybe Christian in name, but not in spirit. Respect the person, not the faith.

If your Enemy is Hungry give him,her Bread.
If your Enemy is Thirsty give him,her Water.

You have the Right to Defend YourSelf.

But if your Enemy is not Attacking you then
Be Nice.
