But following a religion?
Surely blindly believing in and living by a set of rules and tales written by other humans is just plain idiotic and is nothing more than allowing yourself to be dictated to?

Atheist.

You do it every day. You just don't call it religion. You call it functioning in a society. Many people blindly believe what is told them in movies, tv and magazines. They live by this and argue in favor of it. They talk mainly about the make believe characters presented to them. Their lives are consumed by it. Now that is plain idiotic.
Sheep.

Everyone has rules to live by it is called the law in most places. We are all dictated to everyday you do as your boss says or get fired. Rules and laws exist so we don't all go around being jerks and doing bad things. (IE) breaking the laws.
Religion is just like having laws to follow and they are good rules, do not kill, do not commit adultery do not covet your neighbors goods, and so on. So what is the difference their? We are all ruled by someone or something.

First of all, the Bible is Gods word. What rules are you talking about that offend you? Since I have free will and choose to trust in god, that doesn't make me an Idiot anymore than it makes you an Idiot, for not trusting in God's holy word.
