I'm a school student and am applying for a part time job. Do i need to put down my available working hours on my CV/resume?
Also, if i have given my CV/resume to places who are hiring, when can i expect to be contacted by them if they want to arrange an interview?

I was once a hiring manager, and YES, put the hours that you are available to work on the application. Not resume.
Don't leave out any surprises, such as vacation time coming up.
Let them know up front.
Depending if the company is hiring you should hear from them within a week or two.
You can do a follow up call in a week to see if they have received your resume or have looked it over.
Do not be a pest about it.
MAIN ISSUE: Go in person to fill out application or to leave a resume. Try to speak to the hiring manager/HR.
Dress appropriate.
Smile.
Shake hands to whomever you meet at the job.
Good luck.

Do not put your available working hours on your CV/Resume - that is for your background information (skills, past experience, education etc.)

You can disclose that information personally when you speak to the HR person in charge of hiring. (do not hide this info - hiring managers prefer honesty above all)

As for when you can expect to be contacted - you should get an immediate response that your application has received and that they will contact you soon. Now, if you don not receive an answer from them at all contact within 3-4 days. If you did get a response and they said they will get in touch with you - contact them in a week.

Good luck!

If you were to put down your available working hours would be best! you see the employers will need that info to place what time you can come in to work!

as for you second question, I normally go straight to the company who has vacancies.... i simply don't trust any hiring agencies sometimes they just put you where don't belong.
the reason by doing so is that you can get first hand to when you can get an interview with the person in charge

Yes, put available hours. Most places work with you and If you cant work certain shifts you have to tell them up front. Also go to an interview with the right words to say.. And thats " I work so well with others and always give 100%".... Plus say how you love people and have no problem doing anything needed as long as it works with what you tell them you can work.. be honest up front or you will get screwed

yea, it maybe a little early. If you apply now and do not want to work until summer, you application will just go to the bottom of the pile and be forgotten. Just call up the places you want to work at and ask. Most chains have set seasonal hiring periods
