I can never understand the reason, but sometimes someone is actually working there. Frankly when this happened t me I refused to switch off all the other lights because it could be slightly unnerving, bye and large I agree with you but there may also be security reasons, I bet government offices are the worst offenders

Cities are vary wasteful and afraid of the darkness they waste large amounts of energy just on street lights in vacant lots and when every ones in bed. Light just makes it easier for criminals to see what they are doing.

Aquà the lights are iluminated cause it brings alegrÃa con ello y lo pagamos sin recelos porque nos gusta tener una casa bonita y bien iluminada, and for me it's enough. My city is my house ( or may be my home) also.
A great kiss for you, Al.-*

i work at a state gov building and they just put us on the news for using x amount of dollars to keep the lights on and they made a big deal (with good reason) know we have them all go off and u have to call down to the control room to turn them on most large buildings have systems like this so its just laziness or complacency, however if there's light switches in every room its a lack of coordination either way it is just waste full and its a simple fix

I agree, it's totally pointless. Some lobbying required methinks. Have a star from me too. The way forward is lights activated by motion sensors.
