There are two women I used to work with. One I've been trying to get with for years (I'll call her Anne), the other apparently has a thing for me (I'll call her Mary.)

Anne told me about Mary's crush on me a while back, thinking that I already knew. (It was a complicated situation but the short version is that Anne thought I being mean to Mary.)

Well, Anne came to me yesterday and told me that Mary's getting weird with her. Mary knows that Anne and I sometimes go places together, and she's been grilling Anne about where she's going after work and who with. (She's just hanging out with her female friends.) Anne also says that she gets mad when I call her at work (we're all with the same company, just different departments) to ask her something and don't ask to speak to Mary. Mary also told Anne that Mary and I "hang out sometimes" but that's always been with coworkers.

Anne seems pretty freaked out since Mary's her manager. What should I do?

I guess I should add that I have no interest in Mary.

I work across town from Anne and Mary, so it's not like we work in the same office. I'd agree that starting an intra-office relationship would be bad.

if you're really into Anne then make it obvious to Mary. act sweet with Anne and really pretend to be a couple (if you're not yet one) I guess if Mary realize that, she'll back off. If not, then clear things up with Mary-that she aint your type and you're into Anne, and if she's got a problem with that then that's her problem. Hope this helps...

How many times must I say this? It is never good to get involved with coworkers. It always turns out to be complicated one way or the other. You may end up getting Anne fired over foolishness.

Just tell Mary that your policy is not to date coworkers, but if she would like to get together with friends after work sometimes, like you do with Anne, you would not mind. That way you have mentioned both that you are not interested in dating her, and that you are not dating Anne, all in one breath. It will be less complicated like that!!

Date them both, just have some office romance and let the cat's fight over you.
