I've never been interested in seeming only being but have discovered after being apart of this q/a forum for a considerable length of time that many simply ask a question in the hopes that people will give them answers akin to their already preconceived thought on the subject. This is just plain dumb and counter productive to the persuit of truth an knowledge.
In short... I dont get it...

The following is from a Forbes magazine article found at
http://www.forbes.com/2005/10/19/lying-dishonesty-psychology_cx_lr_comm05_1024lie.html
"If I told you lying was good for you, you probably wouldn’t believe me. But trust me--I’m not lying.
Simply put, we lie because it works. When we do it well, we get what we want.
We lie to avoid awkwardness or punishment. We lie to maintain relationships and please others. And, of course, most of all we lie to please ourselves. Whether we’re embellishing our credentials or strengthening our stories, we often tell untruths to make ourselves appear and feel better."
We're not in pursuit of truth and knowledge. We're in pursuit of happy feelings.

A lot of times people use the asking of a question as a platform to proclaim what it is they believe. Many questions arent really questions, in other words.
I dont want answers to my questions that just copy what I actually believe, but more often I would like answers to the actual question I asked. So many times when I ask a question and really want to know why some people do certain things or think a certain way I get half of the answers as just bashing on the question or going off on a tangent to prove something wrong that had nothing to do with the question.
I think more people get annoyed with tangents that just bash on the questioner than actually answer the question.

Yes, sometimes people are just looking for positive reassurance about something they have already decided. They want a favorable reaction and are taken aback by opposition.
Same as life.
I also don't get that if you ask any type of serious question where you do actually want honest feedback, help, directions, assistance etc etc.....1 or 2 people answer.
But just make a remark about Brittney Spears and you get 2,000 responses.
So this is just for fun and you can't take it too seriously. YAHOO!

It's an ego-trip for some. They NEED that support, for some strange reason. They're not interested in actually learning something... they just want someone to pat them on the back and tell them how "good" they are.
As for the whole "do I look fat" thing.... If I didn't want to know the truth, I sure as hell wouldn't ask. =)

Good to see you again, Jamus! Missed you, bud!
And the people you refer to are here to preach or to reaffirm themselves, not to learn. You have seen some of the poop that I get from people who are supposedly on my side. Or the ones that take a proclaimed hypothetical statement and try to back-flip it into their own theology, rather than answer a question.
If it wasn't so dang entertaining, I would have abandoned these clowns a long time ago.

I agree that so many prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth, Look how many evolutionist consider their ancestors bacteria and slime, in the hopes of avoiding the coming judgment for their rejection of the God who created them.

Truth hurts...people say what others think what they want to her. But give me the dirty rotten truth, I like things on the level and my all time pet hate is secrets, what postive purpose do they serve. My answer is turning more into a question.
Have my assurance, I'll give you the answer whether you like what your going to hear or not.

Most people know the unpleasant truth and a nice lie is a refreshing diversion.

Blame and guilt assessment.
If your kid starts taking drugs who do you blame. The pusher, the kid, the cops or finally yourself? Where did I go wrong.
So when our kids says no Dad I wouldn't do that it is easier on the mind and back to just believe them.
Aren't you glad God isn't weak like us. He gives His word and keeps it. You can always trust Him to do the right thing, even if you disagree at the time.
Jesus doesn't hide from our sins He absolves them. We are indeed blessed.

I do not, either. Have you also noticed that such people respond to answers in the additional details and berate the person who answers for not agreeing with them or not giving the answer they wanted?
I have seen people respond to EVERY answer and curse those who answered.
Geez!
