This sounds really strange i know, but i was told by these people that it's a sin, but i want to know if it applies for Catholic's.

it depends on how you are checking him out. if it is looking at him with lust in your heart then it is a sin. in the commandments if anyone looks at another with lust in their hearts then they commit adultery which makes it a sin unser the eyes of the Lord

God wants us to fall in love and get married. This is rather hard to do without noticing that persons of the opposite sex are standing in front of us.
However, as with most good things, there is a risk of not using the virtue of moderation and taking it too far into lust and a disregard for the human dignity of the person.

to check out a guy? like how? if you mean romantically or stuff like that, then NO, it's not okay. homosexuality is considered a sin in the Catholic Church. you may want to believe or not, it's up to you. The Church's dogma will never ever change for the homosexuals, it will always be a NO-NO.

No it is not a sin. In fact, I would strongly recommend it if you are in a relationship with him. Who told you it is a sin? Fundies again?
