the only people I would die for are my wife and kids, because in the plethora of theories and the mysteries of the world and universe.......they are all that matters in the end.

There's a difference between "I will die for my beliefs" and "I will kill for my beliefs". Most people aren't in the latter group, even if they are in the former group, while suicide bombers and the like are in both groups.
However, I honestly can not say what I would die for, as I have not been in a situation where I have had that test, and I believe it's one you must experience before you can really know what the outcome is.
I also believe that most of the people who claim they will die for their religious beliefs, if actually put to the test, would convert rather than die.

You feel offended when you feel that you are not a traditional muslim. That is fine. Why are you worried so much. You are what you are. First you are a human being and then a Muslim or whatever. See, tradition shouldnt be compulsive. We should do what we feel correct. Traditions reflect the spirit of he ancient times. Some are helpful but some are ridiculous. So try to be more impulsive. Listen to your heart. Recall, when you were a child, when your heart didnt know the meaning of religion, when everything was beautiful and there was no good or bad, How did you feel then? I hope you have got your answer.

With all the religious beliefs of the world today it would be disastrous for everyone to decide that they would die for the bettering of their own religion. Religious wars would have no end and they would be fueled by pride and religious kamikazes.
I don't think anything sensible would take place to give someone the opportunity to die for their religion. No god will come and ask you to die for the religions sake.
I am not religious so I wouldn't

Not die for them. There is no reason to I am a Pantheist, no holy wars or acting out the will of a Deity appears in my beliefs.
I would rather die than be forcefully converted to something else though.

The situation would probably only come up if I went to, say,Saudi Arabia. Then, I would probably die for my religious beliefs.
(Not by choice, mind you).
