I say it's a random natural event that was bound and due to happen. However, God does nothing by accident so... it definitely has purpose somehow.
But curiously enough, the Bible does indicate that the end of the world will be marked by a myriad of natural disasters (among other things)... curious, isn't it?

I don't think they have any religious meaning. But it could be Mother Earth or Pele or any other Goddess warning people to take care of what they have because it won't last forever at the rate we're treating the earth. After all, wildfires do occur there every year and people are stupid and careless throwing lit matches and such on the ground creating those fires. There's a reason why they don't want people throwing out lit matches, etc. during the dry season.

ok, from a religious standpoint, i think it means we should start praying for a lot of rain in southern california.
um, why would you be interested in religious views, if you haven't read the bible? this is a very strange question.
these fires occur every year around this time...they are just very bad this year. why read more into it than that?
what religion are you? what other signs is your god giving you??
if this is an attempt to be humorous, i don't think that this tragedy is any reason to joke. do you live in california, or anywhere else that is prone to wildfires? bet you don't, or you would not be asking this...

Wow!
I think that some religious people in America are so egotistical that they think a brush fire in their back yard is a world-changing cosmic event signalling centre-stage in a Middle Eastern patriarchal melodrama.
Apparently, even people who haven't read Middle Eastern Holy Books think that if a fire happens in America, then it is a signal of the End Of The World (TM)
Wild-fires in New Guinea, the UK, South East Asia, Australia or South America are just any-old fires. But Hollywood!!! Come ON?? PPL!! OMG!!! This is TEH END!!!

well.....the Bible did say that calamities are a sign of His comings....
Well, basically He DID send the fire. Everything came from God right? But He didn't do it so we'll hate Him or anything. God said He'll punish every sin that is made, right? Well, I guess that was one particular time when He punished the sins. But it was also sort of a training for people to trust in Him more. I think He was sort of testing the people to see if they have full trust in Him......
But to the victims, don't worry; God still loves you with all His heart.
Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans that I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to hurt you; plans to give you a hope and a future."
HE WILL NEVER GIVE YOU MISFORTUNE....
-God bless ^__^-

I personally get tired of people saying that everytime there is some time of natural disaster that it is a sign from God. The truth is, that God has been speaking out to people for years. He doesn't need a fire or a storm, or an earthquake to do so.

I don't think you can take the fires as a sign from God. It's not like bad things haven't happened in a lot of places throughout history. As you mentioned, you haven't read the Bible lately. Please don't speculate on the basis of ignorance. Read the Bible instead.

How can you suggest that, when you're really pulling the idea out of thin air? In your own words "I haven't read the bible lately so I don't know".
So God is coming "soon" simply because you think he might be...?
The fires in California mean that some retard has been setting fires during the dry season.

So I guess the real strategy to preventing fires in the future is passing out bibles and going door to door preaching the word of god? I don't think that's a very effective solution to prevent people from being burned alive...

It says in the BIBLE that "GOD will end the world in Fire because he ended the world for Noah with water." In 2nd Peter 3:7-12
The entire world is engulfed in flames that totally destroys the surface of the earth. The world was destroyed in Noah's day by a flood of water. It will be destroyed the second time by a flood of fire that will totally eradicate all trace of the wicked.
Please pray for your soul. I too am a sinner and I pray everyday that GOD can forgive me. God Bless EVERYONE!!

Oh, they have have been given no longer something yet chinks. remember the bridge in, i've got confidence it became Minnesota, that collapsed after a tanker truck wrecked under the overpass, caught hearth and compromised the steel help beams? This became in basic terms a tanker truck and the only weight that those beams have been helping became slightly concrete and highway floor. no longer twenty some flooring of a sky scraper. those individuals are good for leisure value in basic terms. are you able to think of what they might desire to be like in guy or woman?
