False Eccumenism. These acts of the Pope and hierachy in recent years are classified sacriligious, and heretical by the Holy Roman Catholic Church's [canon law]
Why ?...that's another story
But he's the Pope ?...hmmmm
But isn't he supposed to...yepp
What's going on with the Church?...you have no idea !
I have too many John Mayer songs to learn on guitar, cigarettes to smoke, coffee to drink to bother with apologetics, dogmatic theology, canon law, church majesterium, traditional catechism, suppression of tridentine mass,infiltration:),...etc that's what its going to take to answer your question thoroughly and precisely?
Many are confused and contradictions are in abundance following the II Vatican Council,a council which was pastoral, experimental if you will not like the council of trent which was dogmatic !
And how the church is today ?"by their fruits you shall know them" these are the fruits of that council : confusion, contradiction, loss of power, loss of influence, loss of mass attendance, loss of modesty, loss of true catholocity, loss of reverence of what is sacred, abomination of religious orders, loss of recruits in seminaries...etc
These are just things to consider and apply logic to what has happened to the splendor and prestige which the Church has once boasted in Her illustrious history.
But I will answer your question in due time
VIIC :an experiment gone wrong !!!
God bless,
JMJ

Well I can tell you that the Pope's kissing of the Qur'an was a sign that Catholic doctrine states Catholocism is not the ONLY way God comes to people. It was a sign of respect. I'm sure he would have taken a different position on allowing Muslims to participate in the Eucharist though, since they deny the core principles of Christianity.
As far as Farrakhan speaking at the mass in Chicago, he is quoted as saying "Whenever Christ's name is mentioned, I feel at home." That is a blatant lie, because Muslims do not accept Jesus as the Christ, they demote him to just another prophet, with Mohammad being the "greatest" of all prophets. It appears to be a sneaky DECEPTIVE agenda on the part of the evil Farrakhan to gain sympathy for Islam by misrepresenting it's core beliefs.

As far as I know, Pope John Paul II died a Catholic, so kissing the Koran cannot be taken to mean that he embraced Islam. It was a sign of gratitude of a gift that was given to him in love. What would you wanted him to do, angrily throw it back at the people who gave it to him?
Farrakhan speaking at Mass in Chicago was probably done as a gesture of reconciliation between two faiths that find it's members fighting each other. I am pretty sure that Farrakhan did not give the homily.

The events of which you write are troubling to many Catholics, but that is no reason to stay away from the church.
These things simply demonstrate the need for more faithful and well informed Catholics, to fully and actively participate in the church, at every level.
I personally stand on Canon Law 212, which gives me and every Catholic the right and the privilege to respectfully make our concerns known to any priest, bishop, or pope, when we hear about such things.
Jesus, the first and the last perfect man, was crucified about 2000 years ago.
The best we can do is participate in his church as fully, actively, and faithfully as possible ... until he comes again.

I think the pope made a mistake when he kissed the Quran. The only justification I can think of is that he was acting in a charitable way. As a former Protestant and missionary to Muslims in the Middle East, I felt this was a foolish thing to do.
I do not know the details o the other incidences and can not comment. I will say that one mans error should not keep anyone from Christ's Church.

Because that is an effort to bring the other faiths, which are just, for the most part, off-shoots of Catholicism back into the true faith. It is the only way to accomplish it because as we know it can not be gotten through fighting. And as for the Koran, he kissed it as a sign of respect. Because Catholics and Muslims both believe in one God.

One faith is not referring to one denomination dominated by men. It is one faith under the Headship of Jesus Christ.
Unity has never been a great trait of the churches of Jesus Christ.
