Do you mean militarily, or economically?

Economically, I would venture to guess they do since their economy is growing pretty fast.

Militarily, I don't think they care much about that and only care about defense. They have made a pledge to the world and its people that they will not invade a sovereign country and they believe in a countries right to self determination. The USA has made no such pledge. (obviously) China is going through modernization of their military, something they can now afford. A year ago they reduced their manpower by one million.

Their ace in the hole, they have the bomb. I think they are wise enough to understand the huge deterrence that has.

It would seem that any
country/person/corporation/political party
that gains any type of large advantage over it's competition will begin to underestimate everything/everyone around them. It's just part of human nature apparently.

China is booming economically and it is the reason why it consider the other Asians already inferior in terms of military and political stability.
