It's been over twenty years since I had to deal with such but I have a very hard time believing you can have a curve without stationary points.

I take it you mean local minima and maxima...

Take the first derivative. should be something like 2* sec^2 (2x+1) which rearranges to 2 / (cos (2x+1))^2

Try setting that to zero. To do that, you'll need to set cos() = inf, but that can't be done, as cos() never exceeds 1.
