It's more than a dream. Most polls indicate that 22% of Americans do not believe in any kind of diety or any other form of supernatural entity. What is unfortunate, however, is that so many of these people either have a negative connotation with the affirmative term, atheist, or they are afraid of being ostracized if they embrace that term for themselves. Thus, many of them still prefer the "more neutral" term, non-believer. Nonetheless, it is still a great day to see that 1 in 5 Americans are atheists, even if they don't necessarily label themselves as such.
We need to create a truly free society where no one has to hide their intelligence for fear of being hounded by the forces of stupidity and superstition that still dominate so much of our nation.

This is a message board that entices people with strong opinions. Atheists seem to think that just because half the people on this message board might be atheist that it means there are all these atheists out there and that more and more people are thinking just like them. I wouldnt take the demographics on this message board to apply to the world outside of it.
Some people would say that not having faith in anything isnt really waking up, but hiding inside their own pessimism. Your assesment that those who are still religious are somehow asleep and not enlightened is really getting old and is so incredibly arrogant.
Atheists can continue to think they are so more enlightened and free thinking but as I read more and more atheists answers and they continue to copy each others words over and over and over again, I become more convinced that your religion of atheism is just as "mind controlling" and repetitive as the religions so many like to mock.
I just wish more atheists on here would recognize that their belief system is no more enlightened or openminded or "awakened" then anyone elses.

I think there are two types of atheist.
1. People who have thought rationally and concluded that there is definitely no god.
2. People who have probably not decided either way, would maybe say they believe in god if asked, but who are functionally atheists because that notional belief has no impact whatsoever on their lives or any of their other beliefs
Atheists in category 1 are increasing slowly.
However, functional atheists are - at least in the UK - the mainstream. Fewer people in the UK now go to church than go gay clubbing at the weekend. Far less than 10% of the population identifies itself as religious. And people are as likely to believe in aliens as in god.

a million) B, assuming it became into tactically efficient to accomplish that. the certainty is we'd be in a conflict, and having a working physique of suggestions could be the precedence. whether meaning all-out attack, a hedgehog defence, or different sorts of engagements will rely on the main factors of the situation. 2) A. in straightforward terms their military could desire to be targetted. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, that's going to possibly be had to 'neutralise' the others, with a view to steer clear of them assisting the army e.g. with substances. subsequently some style of internment or a minimum of sequestration of substances would be needed, and the civilians will nevertheless want a share of those to stay to inform the tale themselves. 3) fallacious question - it presumes we already killed the civilians adults who might have cared for them, which I oppose. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, if in straightforward terms infants have been left after the conflict, they could desire to be absorbed into the tribe so as that they are able to stay to inform the tale and characteristic flourishing lives. they could desire to not be punished for the aggression of their elders. BQ) If I have been a survivor of genocide, i could be fairly offended on the tribe's regime and functionaries which carried it out, although that doesn't unavoidably word to each and all the inhabitants of that tribe. people are in command of crimes, not entire 'guilt via association' populations. i think of i might dream of bringing the in charge to justice, and having something of their tribe think of of them as criminals too. perchance that's a parallel of the submit-Yugoslav wars of modern cases, the place the extremely-nationalists are extra and extra recognized as pariahs of their very own international places, and the leaders are tried for conflict crimes.

I am not sure whether a world without religion means a general " Awakening " or leading to ' Self actualization " !! The question ... Which came first ...The chicken or the egg ?? has still not been answered satisfactorily. Let us through modern day 'HOCUS FOCUS' try and answer this very basic question !!
Therefore the old adage " Nature ( Read ...God ) begins where science ends "

People have divine right to be incomplete, disconnected to the creation and do , think and say whatever, even if its not constructive. Over 2.1 Billion on Earth are Christians by profession, less than one third of the world is some other faith. and then about another third are Atheist. Sounds like an even Mix of Human Awareness on any planet in creation eh?

Religion = control of the masses. Our current administration is using this tactic through the media. Media is now more religious than it has been in many years. This is definitely a factor in the decline or rise in atheism in America.

I'm basically atheistic but I don't share in your opinion . I think more important is the awareness of morality and how it should be taught in the schools either in ethics or law .
educational standards dealing with the roots of compassion .understanding and good human relations is imperative to the proper education of our society . Whether atheist grow now or later is not that important but the issues surroundind it are. respect and personal responsibility are more important whether it cuts into superstitious beliefs or not .
