Depends on your definition of system software. In computing a combination of quickly changing technology, marketing and stupid people means that words are used in a variety of different ways.

BIOS is a very simple bit of software that enables to the loading of other software. In the days of DOS the BIOS software was actually used to do some system things, however these days the BIOS is more or less completely replaced by the operating system.

I would say yes, but not in the modern sense as it does not do the functions that modern systems software does.

Bios check your every part of your computer like Ram, Cd rom Keyboard,mouse Etc. just like a teacher . If there is missing any part then it tell the OS about that part.
