im asking because im scared of pelicans, and want to take my lil nephew to the beach on saturday.

I think it is indeed dangerous to take your nephew to the beach, because you are not capable of distinguishing real dangers, so you can't responsibly protect your nephew from them.

A pelican couldn't possible eat a child. They wouldn't really want to get near humans. So a pelican shouldn't pose a big threat to humans. Besides, they only prey on fish.

Maybe a very small newborn,LOL,but I think your nephew will be safe! Really,the pelicans are more afraid of you!

Edit: I mean,the pelican could hold a newborn in it's pouch,but it couldn't get it down!

no.un- equivocally no. even should it have some crazed idea that a human child (a mammal at that)was food no. the pouch is large yes but the esophagus is small (about the size of your average fish,say a trout) AND they don't eat meat. i.e. mammals. so the answer my friend is blowin in the wind..........and the answer is ...NO! and please..GET A GRIP MAN!

Yes infact they could but they would probably choke or not like the taste.
