Everyone handles grief differently. Some people laugh to release the tension that builds up from being upset. If you are so cold that you would not mourn the loss of a friend, then you do not deserve to have one!!!

I have had more than one good friend die - I still miss them very much and think of them often. YES, I cared deeply for their families and did everything I could to help. Every one of my friends who have left this existence left against their will - it was not their choice at that time, they were doing nothing wrong. One very close friend was murdered by one of his employees on his way to work. It took me YEARS to come to grips with the loss. Laughing and joking on the way to a funeral sometimes eases the bad feeling loss leaves us - making it less painful - I couldn't do that, but I don't necessarily believe laughing means not CARING. If that happened DURING the funeral, then it would be a serious problem for sure.

not all people who go to funerals care. There is such a thing as respect, last respects infact. This is normally the case because those who really care are those closes to the departed but others have to go because one way or the other, he/she has touch the life of others. It is said that you will see the person's life work at the funeral. Jokes isn't bad unless they are laughing at him/her (dead). jokes are peoples way of avoiding sorrow.
