Every time we have someone sick in the house my family is ALWAYS playing the blame game. Last time dad was in the hospital my aunt came up to me and told me that he was there because of ME. This time, I was completely overwhelmed, so I went to jump rope for a while as a distraction. Lo and behold, as soon as they saw me, the attacks started again. 'You're not even human! How can you jump rope when your dad is sick..." Is it wrong to want to get away for a while? I do everything I can...

You aunt sounds like a real arsewipe, tell her to piss off and don't come back.

No, sometimes people are sick because they're sick. It's not anyone's fault most of the time. And any time someone is in the hospital, it's stressful and hard on everyone. People do tend to throw blame and take out their stresses on who/whatever is available. But even when that isn't a factor its overwhelming and it's totally normal to need to get away for a bit. It's not wrong, it doesn't mean you're heartless. It means you needed to get away and de-stress.

Jumping rope is a pretty good use of excess nervous energy.

There isn't anything you can do outside of call these abusive creeps down. Thank them for their concern and tell them that you will take their comments under advisement... in your most sarcastic tone.

Your dad ate what he wanted, slept when he wanted, and did only as much exercise as he wanted... you don't have any control over that.
Truth is, most people don't straighten up and take care of themselves until after they get a wake-up call at the doctor's office... or get hauled to the hospital. Your dad is inconvenienced now, but will have the impetus to look after himself now... and you can help him with that.

tell your aunt to back off. where was she??? obviously watching you jump rope so why wasnt she with your dad??? see my point?

she is just a bitter old person. ignore them. just tell them you are stressed out and you dont want to watch your father suffer.

You arent a bad person for wanting to get a break. you dont have to be right there by his side every second. During times like this, people need to step out and just relax and have some alone time to think about everything. some people write, draw, sing, dance, or jump rope like you did. OR some people are so weak they do drugs or drink alcohol until they pass out.

just depends on how you are. dont worry about it though =]

oh, i hope your dad gets better

Dont let it get into your nerve... this blame game will not do you any good.... However, it is understadable that you get to be affected... I guess the best way to cope is to be honest about how you feel...

Make a stand.
