I am a new driver. I have just recieved my license and my parents are willing to buy me a car. I have narrowed it down to two choices. The Chevrolet Aveo or the Kia Rio. I go to school about 45 miles away from home and only commute there once a month. I also only work about 3 miles from where I live and can walk to do all of my shopping. Any help?

I have test driven both and they feel smooth, the interior is comfortable and the extras don't really matter to me. And yes they will be new cars.

I would say that you need should have a look at both cars and see which one you like the best (I'm assuming you're looking at new cars which if you're parents are willing to part with the money is a very good idea).
Both cars if maintained properly and not abused should give you many years of reliable driving, maintaining the car properly is important, no matter what brand it is so stick to the manufacturer's service schedule (a lot of them won't honour a warranty if you haven't and with good reason).
You seem to have picked reasonable cars, unlike some of the other people who ask questions here.

Rio rates as high as 38 mpg on the highway, while delivering agile handling. And Rio comes standard with six airbags, a safety feature normally associated with expensive luxury cars, not subcompacts.
Link # 2 is a feature comparrison of them both.
Link # 3 is the Kia
Link # 4 is the Aveo
If the price is the same I think I'd opt for the Kia.

well this is a hard decision. but i will go with the Chevy Aveo. its a lot better than the Rio but the Rio has 7hp more than the Aveo and gets 32 mph on city and 35 mpg on highway that's 3 gallon more than the Aveo but the aveo is more reliable and has a better features value than the Rio. so I won't get the Rio because it might break down after a year but the Aveo won't so go with the Aveo and better else. test drive both of them and decide which one you like. good luck.

Kia Rio would be the car for you, it is good value for money.
It might not have brand value as it is an upcoming car company from korea but they are very reliable, and i think they give a warranty for 3 years

yea sure you can walk to shop but will the what ride will hold more gear? what ride offers better safety?out of the two sit in it for about 20 minutes,is everything well in reach with the seat in your desired position?
looks is a big thing for me,but comfort and safety are key. I would buy something better,I am a Chevy man, but Ford,Dodge,Honda,Benz,Vdubs are all great. I would find a Honda, for the simple fact of they run till the wheels fall off,get killer milage
