First you're bathing him with Hartz shampoo and then you're putting a Zodiac flea collar on him? He's probably so calm because he's being slowly poisoned with dangerous chemicals. Please take that collar off! They don't even work, anyway. Get some Advantage or Frontline and treat your home as well if you have a flea infestation.

I used a Hartz flea collar on my cat and he started acting very listless also. He wouldn't play, eat very much, he wouldn't even climb up in bed with us, which scared me because there had not been one night since I got him 3 years prior that he hadn't slept with us. I called the vet and was told that the Hartz line of flea treatments can have some very bad effects on cats, including death. I would really recommend taking the collar off of him. Some cats just don't react well to flea collars period. If you are worried about fleas, you can buy a spray at any pet store, spray down your house, and then give the little fellow a flea dip. Since I did this in our home, my little man hasn't had a flea.

He probably hates the initial smell of the collar. Ask your vet. I don't think flea collars are good for cats so we use Advantage on ours. I Have noticed that some of the cats aren't bothered by it a bit and others will run off right after like a scalded dog. My experience tells me also that some liquid flea applications may react with a cat that has more sensitive skin. In any case we always keep our cats in the house the first day that we do any kind of medication or collar. We also now use break-away collars for their tags. If they get caught
on a tree limb, bush or whatever these lovable idiots manage
to get tangled in , it won't choke them like a flea collar.

Get that flea collar OFF. Flea collars often cause reactions, and best of all - they don't work!! They're flawed by their very nature - the chemical on them doesn't spread through the skin, they only ward fleas away from the neck area. So the fleas just hide on the rest of your animal!!
Get some proper treatment for your cat please. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work.Go in to a vets for some Frontline, Revolution or Advantage - and get that collar off!

try taking the flea collar off and observing any change in behaviour. If it doesn't change and he's just acting calm, maybe he's a contented cat and is chilling.

pls. use the drop on back of neck, like Advantage instead.
I've have bad reactions from using collars in past w/cats, it is toxic to some, and others acted allergically and dangerous to 1 cat I had,.. got foot caught somehow and fell of ledge,.. died from collapsed lung.
There are other alternatives now, like the drop on back of neck which on long run is much cheaper and better to use effectively for fleas.

he is probably enjoying not having fleas biting him. if he is an indoor cat, DO NOT let him outside. the next time, you might not catch him before he gets away! there are way too many ways of cats getting hurt and/or killed outside.
