1. You are the child's key role model, set an example, as they watch all the time and take in everything..
2. Sit at the table each night together as a family and turn off the TV.
3. Only serve nutritious meals and have water on the table in a jug.
4. if a child really dislikes a certain food, he should not be made to eat it, offer a similar alternative instead. For example, my daughter dislikes pumpkin (and still does at 14 yo), so I would cut up a carrot instead, rather than try to force her to eat a food which she hates.
5. let the child decide how much to eat, they feel in more control and you will get a better response to food.
6. Occasional treats are OK and do not harm your child in the long term.

I presume the child is between the age of 2 to 10 years old.

1) Tell story about how the nutrition meals can make wonders.

2) Place the nutrition meals side by side with the food that the child love most.

3) Some kind of reward for finishing the meals.

4) Mild threat, if you do not take this meal, some kind of punishment will be inflicted.

Offer nutritions snacks during the day, not sugar or junk food.

Give them a few options of what they can eat - several different kinds of raw veggies or fruit on their plate, lean meat, etc. so then they think they are controlling what they eat.

Practice what you preach.

Don't let them fill up on drinks before meals. The more they drink the less hungry they get. I tell the boys they need to eat some food first and then they can have their drinks.

teach them from the very start.
with my little ones i never had problems with them eating the right foods.
they always had mashed vegs as a babies
i took into consideration the fact that there were foods they were not going to like.
sweet and chips were an option as they became older but the rule was fruit b4 junk food
if they are extemely fussy a platter of food so they can pick what they want and make a big deal of it everyone sharing
My youngest liked to do everthing that i did so when i made up a salad he always wanted some and when i drank herbal tea both my sons wanted to try them.
A little bit of everything is not harmful the more that you tell children what they cant eat the more they will want it.
I had a friend whos son would not eat fruit so i made him a pear smoothie and gave it to him asking him at the same time if he was going to share it with me he was like no..lol
if they dont like vegs try mixed with cheese, gravy ect..
there are many ways to get them to eat well.

Make it fun. Letting the kids help to prepare the meal makes them proud of the job. Letting them wash fruit or vegetables is an especially good way to start off young. Setting the table, and helping to get plates ready. It is also good to set an example, don't expect them to eat something you push away.

My son eats broccoli, he calls it a tree. We don't cook it, just run it under the tap, so it's crunchy. He also eats shredded carrots, prefers the Grimm's brand because its frozen somehow, so it's crunchy. He will also on occassion eat lettuce in a salad, coz its crunchy. There you go, make them crunchy :) He also like spring rolls, they have some ground pork and carrots in it, it is fried though, so maybe not too healthy. He also likes Go-GURT® Portable Yogurt, but wouldn't even come near a regular yogurt.

If they see you eating them, he will too, maybe not right away, but soon.

Try to focus on the sweeter 'good for you' foods, like strawberries, mandarin oranges, cherries, tomatoes, sweet peas, and corn.
You can add some finely chopped fruits to gelatin salads, add some pureed sweet peas to guacamole, and serve tiny vegetables, like baby carrots and baby corn, with appetizer dips.
I like using pureed fruits in desserts - even though they're desserts, you are getting some nutrition into your kids.
Finely chop carrots and mix them into spaghetti sauce.
Make some fruit breads - banana bread, pear bread, and apple bread are all good.
You can also finely mince vegetables and add them to hamburger patties or turkey burgers.
Puree corn and stir that into corn muffin batter, or make apple cake or pumpkin cheesecake.
Also start making casseroles. You can start out with just pasta, cheese, and sauce, but then gradually add more finely chopped vegetables to the sauce. You can get some minced veggies into tuna or chicken salad as well.

1) make things seem like they taste good. (if your going yummmm!!! they will too)
2) make food seem like a friend. if they don't like something food will be the enemy and not only will they not eat it now, but later they'll be at risk for mega eating disorders (and trust me, those are NOT fun)
3) use food for other purposes. this works especcially well if you have girls. for instance, my little cousin would not eat banana's. we still don't know why. one night i was babysitting her and she wanted to do something girly. i couldn't think of anything, so we made strawberry banana face masks. she's eaten ever since
4) don't make the same thing all the time. broccoli every night? not cool.
