I wish to calculate the power consumption in our home kindly let know how can i do that.

I think you wanted to know your electrical energy consumptions in your home.

Example If you have an electric flat iron ( Rated 1000 watts or 1kilowatt) and you use it for 1 hour in ironing the clothes, then

The energy consumed is computed using the power formula below:

Power = Energy/Time and to compute for the energy:

Energy = Power x Time = (1 kilowatt)(1Hour) = 1kilowatt-hour

Energy Cost = (Energy consumed) x (Energy Cost in Dollars per Kilowatt-Hour energy consumed)

You can see the power rating written on the electrical appliances you use.

Ex Fluorescent lamps, 10 watts= 0.01kW , 20watts= 0.02kW
