protestants believe in rules that they can set themselves, that way it is easy to follow and to be "christian", the reason they don't want to be catholic and follow the papacy is because it requires that they change, they must change and be true imitators of christ as the saints are. and they must continue the change.
why are they so opposed to catholicism, is it contraception? you either protect life or not, is it our missions, is it us being the first church, the only reason there is a bible? is our teaching that has been consistent for 2000 years to difficult for them? i would say so because when you study the history of the church and the bible there is no reason not to be catholic.
"where st. peter is there is the church, where the church is there is jesus christ" an old latin phrase dating back to the second century, no protest or no other writing denies this untill atleast the 16th century as all other christian writings attest to the truth and faith of the catholic church.

this is one site that may help people understand catholicism.
"ignorance of scripture is ignorance of christ" st jerome.
in the same note, ignorance of catholicism is ignorance of christ and his church.
no offence intended but do the research please. may i also add with no magisterium madness is bound to ensue, that is why the catholic church is is order, not the chaos of the 28000+ protestant churches. i think we can find that we are called to be one, please come home our seperated brothers and sisters in christ.

Feneian nailed it.
Your observance of protestantism is right on the money. I was a protestant myself and am now Catholic. The issue you brought up is one of the reasons why I converted. The apostles spend nearly 3 years with Jesus, learning and watching and listening. They were all taught the same way. And when Jesus commissioned them to make disciples of all nations, they went out and taught the same faith to others that Jesus gave them. They did not take it and interpret it how they wanted it to be and then teach THAT version to others. It was one faith, and one baptism. This simple examination is what exposed the flaw of protestantism to me, and made their thousands of fractures even more glaring. I do love my protestant brothers and sisters; if only they'd see what I see now... there is so much joy and peace waiting for them in the Church, in the Blessed Sacrament. Hopefully everyone will come home.
God bless.

Many churches began right away - see 1 Corinthians 1:12-13. Perhaps a good illustration would be to ask "We believe we all live on one world. Why are there so many different countries around the world? With different interpretations of law, custom, etc."

that is a good question. we are all doing the best we can with our understanding from our relationship with the LORD but we are in a fallen world of sin and have imperfections. Only God knows our hearts and He will figure it all out on that last day. I try to follow the bible as my authority, as I understand by the leading of the Holy Spirit within me and with the guidance of bible scholar interpretations, and I put little stock in the differences in church traditions.....my daily walk is biblically led, not church tradition led.

Its awful funny how the protestants splintered into a thousand pieces and the catholic church maintained unity.
A local fundie church broke in two because of the "pre-tribulation" and the "post-tribulation" debate.
And they're MAD too!

Because they don't believe their particular denomination is that "one true church"....they believe the one true church is the body of Christ, a spiritual temple that provides unity for all who believe (even despite the differences of denominational doctrine). And they hold the Bible to be the living word of God and the foundation for all truth. The Catholic Church on the other hand teaches that an institution of man and human tradition is the only path to God and salvation...
