I have four brothers and five sisters. Do you have the same problem as I do everytime someones asks me how many brothers and sisters I have I tell them and they say "Oh wow so theres nine of you?" I say no theres ten, and without fail I have to go into an explaination of why.
When they make out that I was making them look stupid (even though they did it themselves) I say "How many brothers and sisters do you have?" They say "One brother" so I say "Oh so your parents only had one child then?"

Oh I know what you mean!! It's like, HELLO! Do the math already! LOL I think it is because 98% of the people that ask aren't really truly interested in knowing how many siblings you got, I think some people just ask just for the sake of making conversation, so they aren't attentively listening to the answer we give. I just say there are 5 of us girls and 3 boys. I always include myself to avoid the inevitable. LOL!

Try to explain to some people that you are 1 of 14 kids and that there are 8 from the first set and 4 stepkids and 2 half brother and sister. That is sure to confuse the heck out of anyone it does me at times.

Just say "I am one of 10 kids in my family."
People are ignorant and can't do math these days.
Living in a large family requires one to become proficient in math. Imagine what your parents have to do, mathematically speaking, just in getting the appropriate groceries for the week!

Cute response though!
