But how, HOW, does that make it wrong?

I've encountered this several times now. They think that there simply must be mystery in the world. They're upset by the concept of no afterlife. And they act like that is why you shouldn't be an Atheist.

Here's the example that inspired this question:

I don't find it depressing.

I suppose some people feel that it must be sad for there not to be 'anyone' there when they talk to themselves....that there is no comfort. But that is why you have friends and family.

Margo is ridiculous. I'm a deist, but when I was christian...I 'sinned' just as much as I do now.

Depression runs in every circle. That doesn't make whatever that person believes in wrong.

I believe in God because there are too many things that happen that science cannot explain. It bothers me when someone comes up with a theory and suddenly it's accepted as a truth. An example is the Big Bang Theory. WHEN has that ever happened anywhere in space? Did they hear the bang?

well like most theistic ideas it only makes sense if you presuppose the existence of god. if god exists then humans should be happy to believe so because god ensures that truth and happiness coincide, and that is their experience. fine and dandy so far. then they say that since they would be miserable without god, everyone else should be miserable also. but from a godless worldview the assertion is totally out of left field. if there is no god there is no reason for truth and happiness to coincide.

life is somtimes depressing but we treat the person not the environment at usually. Atheism just doesn't encompass all that much .so don't forget old willy wigglestick "..the fault lies not in the stars but in ourselves."

More than depressing, some theists find it threatening and that's why atheism has been the target of so many absurd denegrading claims.

I don't find it depressing at all.
Life is finite and I am quite fine in that knowledge. I think it makes life more precious.

What could be more depressing than eternal life.
It just goes on and on and on and on and on etc.

This line of reasoning shows that some theists are worshiping their desires, since this is about what you want, not what is.

I find atheism very uplifting. We atheists don't devote our lives to a sadistic, immoral, killer God who commands his followers to kidnap, rape, hurt, and kill people. That is true peace. Christians couldn't understand.
