Its to strength your relationship w/ God.
Church is not a party for angels, its a hospital for sinners. Remember that.

One way to look at it - you may not be doing something wrong (other than that Paul reminded us not to forsake assembling together) so much as missing the "lab work" part of putting your relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit into practice.
How are you worshipping together with other Christians? Who do you talk with about the Lord? How are you separating yourself away from being like the world and toward the holiness the Lord has for you? How are you being led by a pastor? How much are you growing in the truth of God? How are you sharing your spiritual gifts with other Christians? How are you led to share your financial gifts with the church and with the poor? How do you get corrected by a Christian who cares about you?
Who do you pray with and pray for?
It can be hard even in a large city to find a church that attracts you. But not going to church makes
you like a family member who avoids his family.
Do you know other Christians? See if any of them has a Bible study you could go to. Going to a church on Sunday morning isn't your only option.

I agree with USC 2007-2008 National Champs. If there is a church of ur religion in ur city then go, not going would be wrong, if there isn't then try to make ur own little service at ur house. And no we Christians do not judge people for everything. It's good that u read the bible but do u understand it? Everytime u read the bible again u learn new things.

In my opinion, no, you're not doing anything wrong. In fact, I think you're making a good decision. (But then, I'm an atheist -- Christian-friendly, used to be a Christian, so don't worry -- so my views are likely to be different from others.)
I think that if you are well-versed in your faith and you are sincere about it, that's great. Know what you know (sounds odd, but what I mean is write out what you believe and make sure that's what you really believe, not just what you've been told) and continue to read/study the Bible and pray.
While some people do take comfort in going to church, it's not an essential facet of Christian life. Sacraments and community can be great, but there are also many instances in which the authority granted a religious leader can be abused, say for political or monetary reasons. You don't need someone to tell you how to think or instill hatred in you, and while I realize that that's definitely not how all churches of any faith operate, there are some that do.
Basically, if you know what you know, you're good. Be open-minded, think for yourself, and be accepting/loving. It's all good.

The basic reason to go to church is to spend time with others who believe the same as you. It gives you an opportunity to support those who may need your support and when you need support, they can do the same for you.
In my church, I can see people who resemble the love of Jesus. The way they behave toward each other and just how they are in general. Going to church helps me connect with these people and helps me learn how to act more like Jesus. It is very different to read about Jesus love and to actually be able to see it in another person. It drives home the point quite well.
If you don't have people who resemble the love of Jesus in your church, then find another one! you are in the wrong place. As for if you are doing something wrong by not going....no, you are not, however you might be causing yourself to miss out on some great people.

No, you aren't doing anything "wrong". Some will quote the passage out of Hebrews "do not give up meeting together" as their basis for weekly gatherings in a building. For my family and I we have opted out of ministry (20+ years) to gather in homes a few times a month. We have enjoyed serving in some community way and BE The Church out in the world...it's been awesome! Look up Barna.org for more about the stastics that are coming forth (7% of all believers don't meet in an Institutionalized Church setting - by 2012 there will be apx. 11%).
May you continue to Seek the Lord as you walk nearer to Him.

to be refreshed spiritually; having a sense of the overwhelming presence of God's love. You feel Him, not just seeing the faces of people who could bring smile to you. Sincerely, i have not been to church for sometime now, but i know i need to be there, occasionally to hear from God. Remember, He speaks through anyone, and anything. Even using Balaam's donkey-***.
Going to church gives u a boost, spiritually. In life's journey you need encouragement, believe me girl, with all the craziness all around, you need to find time to be in His presence to bring peace to your soul, mind and body, that is why the church is there.
For me i love been all alone in the church, am a catholic, so i go sometimes, when the church is less crowded, i have a sense of communing with Him, i pour out all to Him...

I go to church because I like to associate with people who are like myself. They have the same standards as I do, and we help one another. We learn how to be better people and going to church helps us practice so that when we return to the our regular lives, we have the ingrained discipleship to God and we treat our fellow beings as if they were our fellow church members.
It's a social environment which fosters spiritual growth. Not only that, but you create life-long friendships and such close relationships that some people in the church start to feel like family.
God wants us to have this bond with every single human being on this earth, after all...we all are brothers and sisters to some extent, Adam and Eve are said to be our earthly mother and father. What heavenly creator wouldn't want to see it's human family gathering together and relying one to another and having his spirit of unity - being of one heart and of one mind, and of one faith?

THe bible says not to forsake gathering together of the church. You learn there from the sermons, bible study, and you can really grow in your faith. Also, the fellowship with other Christians can be like a second family. We are to be separate from the world. Church helps.
