Cats can get very sick VERY quickly when they don't eat. My friend's cat Sinatra went 2 days without eating because he got upset with some visitors bringing dogs to his house. Just 2 days and he got so sick he needed to be hospitalized. His diagnosis was hepatic lipidosis a.k.a. "fatty liver disease" caused by the lack of food. Take your cats to the vet and make sure the anorexic one is ok and the other one didn't give it a disease or something.

No it's not common for cats to stop eating or drinking when you bring a new cat into the house. Normally, cats will hiss and growl at newcomers but they don't stop eating. Your cat sounds sick, especially since it is lethargic as well. You need to see a vet. Whatever the cat has, it could be contagious and spread to the other cat.

Cats are very finicky. It could be a defense mechanism because someone has moved in on their territory. You have to ease them into a new cat. Keep them separated and only bring them together a little bit at a time. You can't just bring a new cat into the house without easing the veteran into it. But, I would take it to the vet, sounds like something else.

It may be nothing, but I would err on the side of caution and take the cat to the vet. I would first try seperating the cats and try to get the cat to eat something she would never ignore. For instance if my cat ever refused tuna fish I would know he was ill.

The cat is probably depressed and jealous. Pay more attention to it and coax it with some nice treats. If problem persists, a visit to the vet is necessary to avoid complications.

i hate to say this, but the only time a cat stops eating and drinking is when its dying, he can only survive a couple of days like this, take him to the vet immediately!!!!

Just like a wife does when you bring in a girlfriend. Feathers ruffle and turf wars may start until they get used to each other.
