What's this bs about I have to go to the pharmacist and sign my name and show photo id in order to buy Claritin-D? I can get perscription codine or steroids or narcotics without an id as long as i give them my name and address, but I have to sign my name and show id for Claritin-D? What's the point of putting the drug over the counter when I have to go through more nonsense then before. Yes, I know pseudephedrine is now a controlled substance, but if that's the case, shouldn't Claritin-D just go back to being perscription required?

Technically, they are supposed to ask for photo ID when you pick up prescriptions for narcotics and other controlled substances but they rarely do since you have a prescription.

I think it totally sucks that you have to go to all the hassle to get pseudoephedrine now. If I am sick and I go to get some medicine, the last thing I need is to have to wait in line at the pharmacy just to get the only decongestant that works. That stuff that they have on the shelves now doesn't even touch my congestion.

Darn those meth-heads for making life harder on the rest of us! And darn the government for telling us what we can and can't do with our bodies in the first place!

Once a drug goes OTC, it almost never goes back. Claritin-D is a perfectly safe drug. Its cousin Zyrtec-D is going OTC in December. Pseudoephedrine is an important medication. It still is widely available. With the possibly of behind the counter drugs, this will become more commonplace.
