Unless the troops were directly involved, I'd have to say "What?!?" to somebody thanking the troops. On the other hand, what makes anybody think God has a preference as to who beats who up is beyond me.
Kind of a tossup.

I'd have to say thanking the troops because it always seem more insincere and aimed at getting a cheer from the crowd where as the god reference might just be something they actually believe in and they feel helped them win. It's a bit harder to logically reason that the troops helped them win (but then again some might say either the very idea of god or the idea of him helping somebody beat up another is illogical)

What's worse than thanking the troops is thanking the troops for protecting "our freedom"... erm, I don't think Iraq is going to mount an offensive on the "homeland" anytime soon so really our freedom would be assured without the troops.

And I have no problem with people thanking god, as long as they also blame god when they lose.

After a fight? Probably someone thanking his make-up artist. Nothing wrong with thanking God or your Mom. As for the troops, like Kitten says, only if they're involved somehow.

If the fighter was a soldier/has a family member in combat or died in combat/the show has alot of soldiers in the crowd (like at Miramar), I have no problem with it. Somebody just randomly thanking the troops gets really annoying though.

Meanwhile, athletes thanking god has never made any sense to me. "No no no! I didn't train my *** off and go through hell in the gym. God did everything and I didn't have to try." Last night on TUF was proof that this whole "Everything is in God's hands" is rediculous. "God is with me. He'll protect me and my family... What? Oh my hand is friggin huge!... What? My wife is losing her mind and hasn't eaten in a week? Wow I got really screwed up in that fight too. But it's all A TEST!"

Someone thanking angelic troops. That'd be the worst.

At least there actually are troops. So I'd say if they thank god they're semi-retarded.
