Anyone have any idea why the following answer would have been given a violation?

"I like the KJV but as long as the Bible has been faithfully translated I think any version is fine. I would make sure you avoid the New World Translation. It was rewritten by the JW's to solely support their cult."

Nothing that breaks the rules in it that I can see. Does appealing ever work?

And to make this a religion question do you believe in God?

Well yes I called the JW's a cult. What else would you call a cult but a cult? Here goes another 10 points.

On a serious not I have called mormons and JW's cults many times on here. Never gotten a violation for it before. Guess someone can't handle the truth.

☼evolvedkw☼ - as JW's are not Christians this is not Christians fighting among ourselves. It is Christians fighting against false religions.

The JW's will get together as a group and complain about any question that exposes them as a cult. I get violations almost daily, and I never violate the guidelines. I t never does any good to contest. I just re post the question until it sticks.

This is called spiritual warfare. You will not get violations for questioning the Baptists or the Lutherans.

Well, I'd imagine that a Witness out there somewhere probably didn't take too kindly to being lumped into the same group as the Kool-Aid drinkers... You're not using the term cult correctly, Witnesses began as a cult, technically speaking, but aren't considered one today by anyone in the academic field. So you wern't using the classification of cult, you were using it as a severe insult to an entire groups belief system. Hence, the wrist slap. So the moral of the story is: If you can't say anything nice then say it on the 700 Club.

JW's are a cult. When I was a teenager, I used to be hooked up to JW, but then God led me to the truth of His Word!

Yes, I believe in GOD

i do believe that you were isolating a certain holy text that was rewritten by the JW's which you did call a cult.

Does appealing work? Nothing i have ever appealed has been reversed, or whatever Y A's does when a violation is not been proven to be a violation...

Yes, i do believe in god...one with many faces and facets!

JWs insist that they are Christians and they are not. They do not like it when anyone says something to discredit their own Bible. It is a known fact that the translators of the NWT did not have formal training in biblical languages.

A few people have told me they have had thier answers of questions re-posted. I never have and what is more inferiorating is when questioned they simply e-mail you a list of vague rules. When I asked specifically which rule I violated they simply re-mailed me the rules three more times.I agree completely with your sentiment and what is particlularly amusing is the term cult doesn't necessarily have to have a negative connotation although in most current usage it usage does. What I fear could happen is people can simply use this process to try and silent any opinion they don't agree with which could in turn trigger violation wars.

It all depends on how you define "Cult" of course. But, yes, you probably offended some JW.

People are kinda touchy here. Religion is a touchy subject. You're bound to piss someone off eventually.

If you have been here a while, you wouldn't ask why you got a violation notice. That's a source of pride, you know. Me thinks labeling JWs as a "cult" got you the boot. That's bad.

No, I don't believe in any gods.

You called the JWs a cult...intolerance, insulting other members....I'm sure you don't believe the Pentecostal church is a cult do you? But guess what....google the definition of cult, and you'll get a shocking answer.

You're not very nice, are you?

My only violation notice was ironically recieved for this question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag7BOY5N6iV0IOhCyLtVJULty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071008072453AAbHgLO

...and then, I appealed...

...and within a few days, my points were returned and the question reappeared!

Turned out it was a Muslim who was offended that I implied that all non-Christians are "blind" and even "dead"...

And probably because of my last lines, which I thought were poignantly humorous. I said that for a Christian to get offended at a non-Christian is like getting angry at a corpse and saying to it:
"What's wrong with you, man!? Get up! Eat! Drink! Be merry! Don't just lay there and decompose!"

:)

The imagery cracks me up...especially having gone through gross anatomy...!

Trying to get a non-Christian to be good is just like telling a corpse to get up and walk!

But then again, I reflect upon the valley of bones that Ezekiel spoke to...and God gracious brought them to life! (Ezekiel 37)

Which again, just goes to show you that:
1) Although with man it is impossible, with God ALL things are possible!
2) Salvation is by grace alone!
3) Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God!
4) We plant the seeds (God's Word), and God gives the growth!
5) His Word does NOT return void!
6) We do NOT labor in vain!
7) We must faithfully share the Gospel, whether or not others listen!
8) People in cults and false religions get really angry if you try to take them from darkness to the light...! But then again, they will be the FIRST to thank you in Heaven...should God finally open their eyes to see the truth!

And, yes...I know God, even as He knows me!
As an atheist, I sat down to prove the Bible wrong in 1995, and He graciously opened my eyes to see the truth...and revealed Himself to me!

Glory be to God!

...and take heart and press on, brother...there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! Let no other judge you - for who are they to judge Another's servant? (Romans 14:4)

You are a minister of Christ and a steward of the mysteries of God, in which you are to be found faithful - and it is a very little thing that we be judged of man, for we do not even judge ourselves! He that judges us is the Lord! (1 Corinthians 4:1-3)

Grace and peace in Christ!
