I would have chosen Bill Gates for practical reasons.

This is a serious question and not intended to malign any belief.

JC, My parents did not make that choice.

Cadisney and Love, I know I did not.

For the record, I love my parents.

Some people believe that children do choose their parents before their birth, and that they get the parents they need (not necessarily those they want). I personally think this is an excuse for bad parenting, but I'm a skeptic.

I don't believe in God, and I don't see any evidence that God (assuming there is one) actually gave humans free will: in my opinion, this is a way to take the blame away from God for bad things that happen to humans and put the rap on the humans. Not that as humans we don't make plenty of bad choices: so maybe you did choose your parents, you just made a poor choice.

Some things clearly do result from human choices; some result from external circumstances; and some from inborn characteristics and upbringing. How much weight you give to each of these depends on your personal philosophy and/or religion. Do you think your parents picked you? Or are you simply the result of their combined DNA and good or bad parenting techniques?

well free will has nothing to do with choosing what is already in place but now you have a choice or free will to love and honor your parents and if all you care about is money then you should really take a good look at life and see that there is more to it than money honey

I did chose my parents, but while still an infant they were forced to put me in a homemade rocket and launch me into outer space before our home planet of Krypton exploded.

Oops, I guess they put the wrong baby in the rocket!

I was once asked, "Why did God choose your parents for you?"

Isn't that like putting the court before the horse? Parents come first, THEN the children.

So, how can you retroactively choose who you will be born to before you even exist???

Free will doesn't exist for the person who doesn't exist.

Even the concept of free will doesn't allow one to violate causality. Since you didn't exist beforehand , volitional choice was not possible

Free will is always within God's limits. It is mainly so that you will choose if you serve Him or not, and if you want to be with Him in eternity or not.

Free will is not the same thing as choosing your circumstances. Free will is choosing what to do with the circumstances you are given.

I am going to give you a serious answer..Your free will does not start until you are born...until then you are just a gleam in your daddy's eye.

Freewill is your choice of many things but not parents.
