The Bible is filled with contradictions, because it consists of dozens of books edited by hundreds (thousands?) of writers all with differing agendas, over the course of nearly 1000 years.

What else would you expect?

As with everything - it comes down to definitions. Requiring a knowledge of not only the language it was originally written in but a knowledge of the culture AT THE SAME TIME.

So anyone with an agenda could alter a translation to mean just about anything.

Witches weren't added until after the bible was written and that was followed up by the book the witches hammer which was a guide on how to recognize their version of witches and how to get them to confess and later to get rid of them (remember, any herbal healer or scientist was considered a witch and follower or worshiper of Satan/the Devil! Even people in power that the church considered a threat would be put in that category!)
