I am student getting ready to graduate with a major in IT and had a job interview today with a large company and all went well but for some reason they emailed tonight wanting a couple more professional refrences and also asked if they could contact my current boss and my college advisor.
Does this mean that they are really thinking of giving me the position? I know they probably wouldn't go to all that time and trouble if they wasn't but I just really don't know what to make of it.

Yes definitely want to check your hsistory out to make sure you are the right type of person for the job BUT if you have already given reference then they may have been bad ones and want more to confirm what they have been told about you. If they dont have any reference to begin with then its all good i would say

I agree. They probably wouldn't go to all that time and trouble unless you are a serious candidate.
