What part of Paganism don't you understand?

Pagans have their own path of belief that they chose to follow. With many Pagans, they have a belief that Diana is the mother goddess, she married Lucifer, they had a child named Aradia. The god Lucifer is not the christian satan, yet christians seem to think so. To Pagans, Lucifer is the bearer of light, and of knowledge. With Paganism, also comes Pagan Witch's, this to say if you believe in the god Lucifer (aka satan) then you are considered a satanic witch. I have been a Pagan satanic witch for the past 25 years, and there are many upon many more of us, to say tens of thousands, is exact. So when I read that young ladies question of her asking about Doctors. And I read the answers, I think many of you need to study Paganism more in depth. There are many religions out there, most likely ones you have never heard of, so if you don't know, don't answer. So what part of Paganism don't you understand, as Pagans are those who are not christian, jews or muslim.

Lucifer makes his appearance in the fourteenth chapter of the Old Testament book of Isaiah, at the twelfth verse, and nowhere else: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"

The first problem is that Lucifer is a Latin name. So how did it find its way into a Hebrew manuscript, written before there was a Roman language? To find the answer, I consulted a scholar at the library of the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. What Hebrew name, I asked, was Satan given in this chapter of Isaiah, which describes the angel who fell to become the ruler of hell?

The answer was a surprise. In the original Hebrew text, the fourteenth chapter of Isaiah is not about a fallen angel, but about a fallen Babylonian king, who during his lifetime had persecuted the children of Israel. It contains no mention of Satan, either by name or reference.

So dear one, when I say Pagans follow different paths, I am not speaking for all Pagans now am I. I have stated quite well, in open, of the many different beliefs, and it is not for me to push my belief on you, only to tell you that there are many who do believe, in the satanic ways. As you know, Paganism is the oldest religion ever noted, you have your beliefs, that is your right, and we satanic witches have ours.

Paganism is the oldest religion known to humanity. It's origins are obscure, but conjectured to have arisen with humanity's desire to explore the unknown, and seek unity with the divine force (however that may be perceived). Therefore, Paganism has no founder or founders, no earthly leaders, no prophets, no messiahs, and no saints.

The word Pagan is derived from the Latin Paganus, "a civilian", and from Pagus, "a village". This delineates Pagans as those who are from a village, or more commonly, simply country-dwellers. Whilst the majority of Pagans today - like the majority of the population - live in towns, this term accurately describes the Pagan heritage, and the affinity which modern Pagans feel with the natural environment.

Thus modern Pagans follow a religion which is as old as humanity itself, but whose practices have been adapted to suit life in the modern world.

Pagans believe that each individual has the right to worship in their own way; there is no legislation that requires Pagans to follow any prescribed manner of worship. Some Pagans worship in a formal manner; have a more instinctive and unconscious mode of acknowledging and communicating with Goddess and God. Some Pagans prefer to make their worship a private affair; others gather in groups and make their worship a communion with each other, as well as with Goddess and God.

p.s. About Lucifer, most Christians won't believe you. They're too invested in that particular verse to allow themselves to question it.

"Pagan" was, and is, a reference to people who do not follow the Dogma of large Religions.

"Pagan" is overused by people who do not fit, but wish to feel as if they have "tens of thousands" of others who belive what they belive.

Years ago, one of my group members tried to get the word "Pagan" out of use, and substitute "Heretic", as "Pagan" seems to not be descriptive of groups.

"Heretic" describes those who "go their own Way" and is a better term for, let`s say, "Eclectics" of ANY Religion.

Yes, a "Satanist" can be an Eclectic "Witch", or any other Name that they wish to use-that is their right(in some places), and, the difference between "The Devil" of the Christians, and the "Inner Power" of the Satanist, is Theology presented by an Eclectic, to a Forum of Theologians who feel they are NOT eclectic.

So, the question is needed, but only by those who freely use the term"Pagan" in any manner they feel is descriptive of "Eclectic".

Were the Romans who worshipped Jupiter, Pagans? They didn`t think so! But now, they are considered so!

Were the Ancient Druids Pagan? They didn`t use that word, they would not think so, they were members of a Religious System.

And, one more thing-Jews, Muslims, and Christians are members of Eclectic Religions. Their Books and Dogma have been built up through the centuries, and no longer resemble the Origin.

Think on it.

Please, PLEASE don't presume to speak for all Pagans. You'd be very wrong to do so.

"Pagan" is an umbrella term, NOT a single religion. As such, it has no single set of beliefs.

As a Wiccan, I agree with none of what you've said, and neither would an Asatruar, for example. And I hazard a guess that most other Pagans wouldn't agree with the Diana/Lucifer/Aradia bit either.

EDITED TO ADD: Ah, I remember where I heard the Diana/Lucifer/Aradia bit before... this is a Gardnerian Wiccan belief. And the Gospel of Aradia is widely believed to have been written in the 1800's.

So it's the belief of a subset of a subset of Paganism.

I don't understand why there aren't more Pagans.

The more I study Christ and other Mystics the more I'm convinced that knowledge and tradition are limitations and experience is the only "Truth"
Whatever is divine is within and based on love. Names, scriptures, traditions are all meaningless beyond their ability to inspire us to personal experiences of our own.
The religious establishment has many tricks and traps to prevent us from following this journey.
For example in some Buddhist beliefs if someone becomes enlightened and says it then they "prove" they are not enlightened. I'd think that if one were to become enlightened they would know it. But the definition of enlightenment is flawed and varies from person to person.
In Christianity the faith trap exist. If saved by faith then any proof would remove faith and to some that would remove salvation. It is an excuse to prevent direct experience of God.

Neo-Pagans of differing groups haven't been around very long. Sure they are trying to reconstruct older traditions and struggle to find historic information but there are large gaps in each faith filled with bits of this or that from all manner of faiths, secret societies, and Mysticism. In fact Neo-Pagans are a different faith from any one individual to any other.

The Buddhist say that Maytrea will come only after everyone has forgotten Buddha. Maytrea will usher in a new awareness.

Perhaps the creativity and open curiosity of the Pagans will inspire us to create new religions to unlock long lost spiritual truths that where hated by uninformed men for centuries.

uncertain why you place paganism in there, yet i'm going to respond in any case. i don't be attentive to of any pagan faith that has a resurrection subject equivalent to Christianity or Judaism. (i'm not known in any respect with Islam's address it.) the main person-friendly ideals in paganism are in reincarnation or in some return to widely used awareness (for loss of a greater valuable generalization) or some form of Paradise. i don't be attentive to of any that have a concept in a return of a soul right into a physique in this or the different planet that stands out as the comparable as a prior incarnation. return as a new child with a sparkling slate, confident, attain yet another physique with the real comparable awareness - no. additionally in paganism we've the final accountability for our movements and we can actual face the outcomes, yet no cleansing by utilising the different company can take that away. Our deities do not choose us as "evil" by using fact we are actually not, nor can ever *be* suited. One "sin" isn't equivalent to 3 different and because perfection isn't an impossible prevalent we are set against, the judgment we acquire relies fullyyt upon our movements and intentions. and really needs to study 'Paganism' like I have studied Christianity. (which isnt a lot but enough to know they are not my enemy and to have a working knowlege.


I want to point something out. You are speaking for your part of paganism. Not for the Other half. Yu speak for the Pagans, Wiccans, and Druids. Faiths with crumling bits of scrap for basis. ( i have studied a lot of Paganism forms, and I know, for example. That the druid religion is eternally lost. They didnt write, and were not very welcoming of outsiders and those not of the faith. (when it came to religion) When the last one died, it stopped existing accept as memory becuse nothing was passed down from it.

My half. Is The Norse, Greeko/roman, and Egyptian revival/ reconstruction.


Between the 2 sides there are more questions then we have time to write down. as well as bits that even we are at a loss for.

Thank you for the quick history lesson, and i am sincere in saying that. This is an aspect i did not know.
Now i have questions to post.....because there are some things that i just do not understand...which is good, because i am always open to truth and light!

as for the rest of paganism i dont understand... Why o why, do some of you make us look stupid by trying to one up the christians? Its childish we should leave that tripe to them. Why argue with people who will not ever change there mind on tolerance.
