I thought nuns took a vow to stay virgins...they could do that and mother kids via IVF if interested.

Nuns do take a vow of chastity. Technically, yes, a nun could get pregnant invetro, but I don't think they would be allowed to remain a nun. Invetro costs quite a lot of money, and nuns aren't paid much to be nuns. They are given a place to live and food on the table, but since they do not have as many worldly possessions as the rest of the population, they have no need for extra money. Either way, I'm sure an issue like that would have to be approved by the Pope.

Scientifically, yes... however, I think it violates the fundamental principles of a nun's vows to mother children. And what other reason would she have for being artificially inseminated? There are plenty of motherless children in the world who need care.
