I live in Illinois, single, baby on the way in Feb, and a car I bought to get back and forth from work, 8 miles each way. Im claiming 1 (myself). I estimate my earning total for 07 will be about 43,000. State tax about 5,500 and state 1,000. What should i get back?

It would be hard to say go check this page from h&r block out. you can put your income and deductions in there it will calculate it but you wont be filing just checking to see what youll get. No personal info is asked.

The baby will effect your 2008 taxes, but not 2007. The car will have no effect on your taxes.

I estimate that your Federal Tax will be about 15% of your income ($43,000) - so about $6450. And your state tax should be $1000 or slightly less.

Quick guess, $350 - $400 on Federal, but you'll owe about half that to the state. Baby has no impact for this year but will next year. Car has no impact now or in the future.
