every time i lift my upper leg up and then lower it, theres this really annoying pop in the joint. its the pelvic - thigh joint. It dosent hurt it just makes me cringe everytime it pops. I was doing a yoga stretch where I layed on my back and held my knees to my chest and the right one popped really loud and since then its been better but still pops a little but cant get the other one to pop like that. ANYWAYS though just wondering if anyone has any ideas to make this go away.

You can't really make it go away. The popping noise is not caused by bones rubbing together in most cases, as bones slide and glide in relationship to each other. The pop noise may be caused when gasses are moved out of the joint when there is a change of pressure in the joint from movement. Popping your joints does not cause arthritis, as many believe. As long as you are not having pain in the joint after it pops, this is not a big concern, even though it may be an annoyance. Also if the joint "locks" or "gives out" you may want to consult your doctor. Yoga will help increase the range of motion in your joints as well as strenghten the muscles around them... continue to do this as long are you are not experiencing pain. You may even try a glucosamine supplement found over the counter if you consult your physician to make sure it is ok first- some people feel relief after using this for a short period of time.

As long as the joint isn't dislocating there isn't really much that can be done. If it is dislocating a doctor can shorten the ligaments to prevent the dislocation but there will still be some 'popping'.

i have this problem too in my knees and my left leg. i've asked a doctor about it before and they said not to worry about it if it doesnt hurt. i've had it for a few years now and it always feels the same--no pain at all, just a little popping feeling and sound. sorry i dont know how to fix it =(. if you want, you could always ask a doctor about it. best of wishes =)
