Every two hours send the puppy out to go potty....
He'll eventually catch on.

And if he/she has an accident. that you see, give him a slight smack on the nose tell him that was a "no no" wipe it up with a paper towel, and take it out side.

Make the puppy smell it, the smell will cause him to have to go potty.

Then he'll know that outside is where he is supposed to go to the bathroom.

OMG don't beat it!! I recently got a puppy for the first time, and potty training was easier than expected. My family got our pup in the summer, so basically he spent lots of time outside. We would not let him inside unless he had gone to the washroom (it sounds harsh, but it really isn't!) We would ALWAYS supervise the puppy inside, and we made sure not to get him riled up (that made him pee). Of course there was the occasional accident, but don't scold. Clean it up, making sure to spray deordourizer on it. Praise your puppy EVERY time it goes to the bathroom outside. Good luck, and have fun!

actually it is very natural and normal for a puppy to pooty. Maybe you should just embrace him for his pootyness.

I have the most amazing dog in the world, she doesn't poop or pee in the house and she's just amazing. We trained her using the training puppies for dummies book and it worked well

I have always used the crate method. Let him out only to eat drink and then go out to potty. Also we have attached a bell to the end of the door knob. We make him ring it with his paw every time he goes out and pretty soon he will get it and ring it himself.

PUPPY PAPERS!!

My dog is 13 and she still uses them.

When she can't wait on me or if my schedule changes and I'm late, if she HAS to go--she can use the paper.
SOOOO CONVENIENT!!!
