Certainly you can look for it. By putting out there what you are looking for, and keeping your eyes open for it, and by putting yourself in situations and places where you could meet a person like what you imagine you want, you increase your chances. Only problem is that when some people are very fixated on 'looking for love' they want to find it so bad that they take 'whatever' instead of waiting for a good match.

well, try to see it this way. When people tell u not to go out and search for love, its basically from their experience as people, perrhaps they were hurt by love in the past, and they were hurt because they activley pursued it.
If u want love really really bad, it comes off as u being desperate in my opinion, there was this girl in my history class, and she was all over me, trying to hang out with me, and I had just met her about 3 days back, and shes already crazy for me.
In my opinion, the best way to find love, is to look into your circle of friends, and pick and choose who would be a good candidate for u. Have this in mind, "Who is going to be good enough for me?" Remember that being optimistic will get you anywhere. Hope this helps

It's not about putting your mind to it, it's about changing your life so you are open to accepting true love in whatever form it comes to you.
Make pro-active changes in your life(style) and work on getting yourself to the best place you can be. Instead of looking for someone else to make you happy, make yourself happy and you seem less needy.
The happier you feel about yourself the more likely you are to attract the kind of person you're looking for. I can't remember exactly how it was worded but it's in "The Secret".
You can't just sit around waiting for someone special to "find" you, but you can't go out into the world with the specific aim of finding love ~ you need to make the changes that will allow that love to enter your life in other ways ~ eg: it may be the fact that you've always wanted to learn tennis and you finally sign up for lessons just for your own personal satisfaction and then it turns out the coach or someone in your class happens to be Mr Right ~ you weren't looking, but you weren't waiting either...
Good luck!

I think it means that you need to be in places that you enjoy going that's public, but don't make it a mission to pick someone up or force it.
If someone gives you a smile, smile back.
That's a start. Just don't ask if they are single or something right off the bat. Make mini small talk.
You have to use duality. Have confidence and be friendly but not overbearing and pushy.

Why are so confused in understanding how love happens. Its the internal feeling that booms your heart when you get that loved one. so better dont waste your time in thinking and you will get your loved one....even if you wont want it.

Why are you basing your life on what other people say? It works for some, it doesn't for others, just like everything else in life.
