I was granted two credit cards when I was 17, being a 17 yr old I maxed both-ended up in collections. They're now paid, one was settled. Is it possible to have these account records removed from my credit report because I wasn't legally supposed to have them? Would it be benefitial to even remove it or would that take my scores down due to having less history?

So bad credit that's been taken care of (even if one was settled?) makes it seem better?

You can't have correct information removed from your credit bureau. Your report should show bad debts made good.

It isn't illegal to extend credit to minors, but if they default, they can not be forced to pay the amount, but they will hound you to death until you pay it off.

Yes, those two defaulted accounts still hurt your credit even tho you paid them. However, they do look better than if you hadn't paid them. It will take 7-1/2 years from the default date for those to fall off your report.

You will probably have to get a secured credit card. Use it and pay it off in full every month. After about 2 years of consistent, on time payment history, you may have a decent score.
