that they were wrong, than atheists being able to accept the fact if there was evidence of a deity(ies)?

When you think about it, particularly christians, some have quoted being terrified to find out there was no god afterall. SO terrified they feel as if they'd lose all direction in life.

Many atheists WANT proof. Most proclaim that they will believe with tangible evidence.

I'm not trying to point fingers, it's merely an observation I have been pondering on for awhile.

Thoughts please!

Ugh, it is so hard to word these questions so EVERYONE will understand my point!

I'm not saying YOU people don't have faith! I'm merely pointing out an observation of some, not all, that I find interesting.

Paul: That is some of the biggest bullshite I've seen on this site. Do you assume all atheists were never at some point in their lives possibly a theist? Like me for instance?

Yes, I have noticed alot of observations about different groups on here. I just try to keep alot of those observations to myself. I hate to offend and generalize.

EDIT: Moires, I think you misread the question. Your rant is being preached to the choir so to speak.

You stated, "Many atheists WANT proof. Most proclaim that they will believe with tangible evidence."

Would you please tell us what the tangible evidence of no God is, since you do not believe?

I have never said that I would be terrified to find out that there is no God because I have faith that He is. I say that I would be terrified to try to live my life without Him.

If someone doesn't believe in God, perhaps for them there is no God ... and when they die, that's it. And that's cool.

Believers may, in fact, move on.

Faith demands belief without physical proof. It's interesting to note that scientists who don't believe in God, because they claim there is no proof can believe the universe is infinite just because they think it is - or hold the "theory" of evolution as settled scientific fact.

The only" proof" of God is when He manifests Himself; the same as electricity. God is Spirit and He manifests Himself with love, such as sending His son to die on the cross. I see His manifestations everyday. He is there for the ones who choose to live in the spirit.

I've heard more than a few people, reflecting on the possibility that their faith is baseless, confess that they would succumb to despair. While I don't understand that position, I leave them alone. It would serve no purpose, and may even be cruel, to convince them that their God is imaginary.

If i found proof of a God i would have no choice but to believe. Right? Proof is how i decide what is real and what is not. It is called being rational.

Do you really have a question? You made a strawman which means you defined a theist by something that isn't true so that you could just throw a punch. You hit thin air though because theists are not shaking in their boots as your so called question implies.

Well you can't really compare, since theists already KNOW there is a God by personal experience, while atheists are simply ignorant of the fact by lack of experience. Any reasonable person is open to discovering something when evidence is presented. But no reasonable person will consider not believing in what they already KNOW to be true. That would be irrational. If you tell me you have a camel in the bathroom, I may doubt you, but I'm open to evidence. But if you tell me my wife doesn't exist, sorry, that's just dumb.

I know there are people who use God and religion as an excuse to do something stupid.

However, there are many good wonderful people who's belief in God is what drives them to be what they are. If you take that away, you take away their hope in what they did was worth anything.

I find it interesting, but not strange. Theists generally have a perceived vested interest in their beliefs, but atheists generally do not have any such vested interest in disbelief.
