how do people act during a panic attack? i know i get them but i never remember anything.. i just know my hands and feet get tingly, i get dizzy, i shake really REALLY bad, i cant breathe, and i cant stand up, but untill it stops i dont remember anything after that... i never have any idea what happened.. do people usually cry or pass out or get violent or just stop breathing.. what really happens that i dont know about? i have been having them at least 1x a month for the past year. i know i have been having them recently because of an extremley upsetting breakup that was full of lies and now im having them 2 or more times a day... but i just dont know what happens when i get an attack.. what do people typically do during the attack...and i dont wanna be told to go to the doc. or be pumped with meds that i dont need.

im not stubborn and the people around me dont remember anything much cause they r just tryin to get me to answer them and get back up off the ground. thats what they tell me b cuz yes i do ask them and for the 1 smart *** who answered me, yes, i do stop breathing. thats typically 1 of my beginning symptoms and no, i cant stop or prevent an attack. i cant predict them either. all im asking for is a personal expierience if they can remember what happened.

When I have my panick attacks, my heart beats faster, my mouth is dry, and I worry about what might happen. I know that it will eventually be all right and that will go away so I try to make the best of it until is passes. That's it.

Twice a day, that is a lot, but if you try all this below it might make a big difference:

The tingling hands and face, lightheaded and dizzyness is the result of hyperventilation. If you hyperventilate again, breathe in a paper bag. That is what they teach at First Aid classes.

I have had panick attacks for a long time. I never took any pills. I had Valium in my purse "in case" but never took them.

When you feel it is coming, take long, deep breaths. It slows the heart beat.

Orange Blossom and Valeriane herbal tea helps also.

There is a self-hypnosis tape that did wonders for me. It is called "Relieve Stress and Anxiety" and you can find it at www.thepotentialsunlimited.com

Seeking a therapist will help you find why you have those attacks and they will go away once you understand what is going on. Without any pills.

Take a hot bath. It knocks me right out.

Get into meditation and yoga classes. You will learn A LOT of relaxation techniques. Or you can get a book on it.

As crazy as it sounds, stay away from refined sugar and coffee. AND negative people.

The most important: exercise. It stimulates the endorphins in your brain, endorphins are the pleasure hormone that are released when you exercise, listen to music or do pleasant activities.

Find your passion. Me, it was martial arts. It kept me busy enough to stop worrying. Life is much better when you are working towards a goals that you have at heart.

Obviously, you don't stop breathing.... otherwise, you won't be typing this now....

I have seen few people have panic attacks. Some start to shake, hyper ventilate, talk very fast some meaningless things. Some make violent moves. Some people starts to look pale, white, quiet, sweat, and just stand/sit still. Some collapse, too.

Why don't you ask people around you what you did? I have a friend who has a very bad case of attacks. He knows when it's coming... and he knows to sit down in a safe place. Perhaps you should learn to detect it coming on, so you can be sure you will be safe.

Panic attacks take on many forms. If you don't want to go to the doctor than not much help is available. Why not just seek help to learn how to deal. If your foot was broken, you'd go to the doctor, wouldn't you? Now gets some help and you won't believe how much better you can feel. Don't be stubborn. By the way, they don't last forever. Good luck.

I used to get them. But its not like I don't remember what I did.

When I get it,I first sense it coming and I panick even more.I feel dizzy, followed by tingling in my hands and feet. Also I feel a certain pain or tingling in my head.

I breathe rapidly but I don't become shaky.I lie down and do a variety of relaxation techniques that I know, and just wait for the panick attack to go away.
Initially when they had just started,I was extremely scared of them and couldn't believe that they are really happening to me.I used to fear as if I will get crazy if they continue forever.

Now that i have had it so many times,I am kind of habituated to it and don't care much if I feel like I am going to have one.
Because they don't last forever. We get used to everything.

I take xanax if I feel one coming on. I too shake really badly, almost like a seizure. I fall to the ground, sometimes I start talking and singing. I dont remember anything, people end up telling what happened, or what I was saying. I don't always know what sets them off either.

I normally just feel my chest and throat tighten. I also feel like I just have to get out of where ever I am. If I'm at home I have to go outside, at work I have to leave, in traffic well I just continue to freak until I get home. Then again, mine aren't bad enough to really stop me. I just try and breath, close my eyes and relax as much as I can.

The doctors treat epilepsy so severely that one hesitates to suggest drugs. I hope this will pas as you remain careful not to get upset and have good friends to help you . Read about Julius Caesar!
