The profession of shaman has many advantages. It offers high status with a safe livelihood free of work in the dreary, sweaty sense. In most societies it offers legal privileges and immunities not granted to other men. But it is hard to see how a man who has been given a mandate from on High to spread tidings of joy to all mankind can be seriously interested in taking up a collection to pay his salary; it causes one to suspect that the shaman is on the moral level of any other man. But it’s lovely work if you can stomach it.

any thoughts-thanks in advance for any answers--smile and enjoy the day

Is that a slight smirk i detect? lol...

i do agree with you that the profession of shaman has many advantages....but that is where the split between a real shaman and an evangilist begins.....a true shaman does not collect a pay for his services...however he is taken care of.

oh my.....i can already imagine some of the answers! lol

Thanks for the smile!

You obviously have no idea of the real work of a shaman. Not all shamans are men and they aren't granted any special privileges/immunities in the U. S.

If you're talking about Pastors in churches taking collection, you need to see where the money goes besides the Pastor's salary. There are bills that the church has to pay, there is money set aside in the budget for many different things. I know as a kid, my family wouldn't have eaten on different occasions if it wasn't for the church's help.
But even Pastor's can't live without money. They have bills to pay as well. I know Pastor's personally and I've even filled in for a couple when they were gone away. So I can tell you for certain, it's a full-time job and not one you can be lazy in. So if we want them to do everything we expect of them, then we need to provide them a salary so they have the time necessary to devote to prayer and Bible study (so that they grow closer to God and are able to teach us from His Word),
time to devote to ministry (visiting those with needs that they have been made aware of, spending time in the community so they can reach those who don't go to church....many, many more things fall into this category), time to devote to seeking God's will in preparing sermons (this alone took me all week...I don't know how they get anything else done).....all I'm saying is that for a Pastor to be effective, he should have a salary so that he has the time to devote to doing God's work without the distractions of having to make living as well. It is Biblical, actually.

We don't have shaman in the united states that I know of and I have lived her 63 years. As for preachers,,,the bible says if they devote their life to spreading the Gospel, they are entitled to make their living that way....

Shamanism is of the occult and etc. It is not of God! No one should use it to their advantage. God will provide if they just pray and trust.
