Those people were not more special than we are today. They just happened to live during the creation times, and times of fulfilled prophecies. If Armageddon was to happen today, we would be privileged to see the power of God in full action, This does not make us more special than any other people of other era; we are just coincidentally privileged.

For those of us though that believe in God and stay faithful to Him while we persevere the test of times, and have faith in Him without needing to see Him to believe, will be rewarded by Him tremendously. Until Jesus comes back to reclaim this world, God's Word, the Bible, will have to suffice.

What you have with the Bible, as such -- is that it is retrospective only. It is not current.
You know the old story, that if someone whispers you some information, and you pass it on, by the time it reaches the end of a line of people - it is a very different story at the end.

That is what you have with the Bible, and it's ideas...

Correct interpretation is not possible because times have changed since then, and now... a whole lot has changed.

You may well ask - why didn't God appear again, since the time of Jesus?
Well, he was suppose to have appeared to Mohammed? Didn't he???

I tend to subscribe to the idea, that God was 'invented' soley for religion's purpose - for us all to believe in God.
Not for spiritual reasons, but simply because the church gets to act as intermediary between God (invention) and man. This secures a safe place for the Church - they take away what personal power we have - for their purpose.
Sadly this is a case of seeing what the church and religion does - and to not listen to what they say... because any promises about the afterlife, when we die --- is pointless anyway, because it can never be proven. And anyone can say anything about the afterlife at all - because none of it, can be proven...

I don't subscribe to a God that does not make sense. Your question is valid - and religion will never be able to answer it satisfactorily. They will not give you a straight answer. Oh, they are waiting for the second coming - only problem is, it's been centuries of waiting so far... ... ...

We have the same evidence that they do. Look around you and see His creation. During the time that God as the human man Jesus, was on the earth in the flesh, people, even His own, denied Him. God did many signs and wonders in Old Testament times and people rejected Him. Even the Israelites who He was leading and promised that the savior of the world would come through their decedents. What more could He do?

If you really want evidence, see how Jesus changes lives and how much His true followers love Him.

Perhaps it is a matter of the ppl in the time of Jesus & before being more open to the evidence that God is real. Perhaps the evidence is there today but we refuse to see it but rather cover it up with scientific theory. Miracles were accepted as miracles in Jesus' day. Today a miracle, if reported, is dissected with skepticism. All evidence of the existence of God is looked upon with skepticism by a very vocal group. Believers are ill-equipped to shout them down. There is evidence everywhere. We are just not prone to accept it as such.

Look around and seek an explanation of what we have in this world? Life is a very good example that God exist. Nobody in this world can give life except God. Nobody can explain why Earth, Sun and the Galaxy exist! God cannot be seen It is a ghost with no flesh & bones. It is the faith that brings you that God exist.

There is no different during the time of Jesus and today. People still don't believe in God even he already used Jesus as his Son to bring his word to us, nobody listen to him only few but never been steadfast to God.

Time will come that God will judge us and people will suffer and everything will be lost.

We do have evidence today. Look at creation. It was not an accident you are here. You are special and God has you here right now for a purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 says so . Our job is to seek and pray to him. He will reveal many things once you start seeking him. He gave us Jesus and hope for tomorrow.

There is plenty of evidence that God was and IS real.

1. Fulfilled prophecy. We can date that parts of the Bible were written before the prophecy was fulfilled. Prophecies no one could have predicted.

2. Early Christians died for their faith because they saw Jesus rise from the grave with their own eyes. It is one thing to die for your faith. It is another thing to die for your faith if you knew it was a lie. It was not a lie so that is why they died for their faith.

3. DNA. We can see the language God used to create us. To think we all came about by natural processes is to deny common sense.

They couldn't get Born-Again in The Old Testament---GOD Dealt with them Differently then HE Deals with US in The New Testament.

I used to have that question myself, until I figured out that it's not that they were special and could see Jesus... it's just that as you said - since they didn't have any evidence to prove or contradict anybody who claimed talking or seeing Jesus, and random acts of nature were casually taken as messages from the heavens or from jesus. Nowadays we are more skeptical and most of those experiences are now explained by science. hope i helped.
