This is what I'm confused about. People (mainly Christians I suppose), say that if you believe in Jesus Christ then you can be saved and go to heaven.
These are my assumptions:
-A person can renounce their current beliefs at any time, truly believe in Jesus Christ and be saved
-heaven is a good place to be; better then earth really. So all of your life before death is meaningless when you consider heaven. It is just a means to an end.
-After you die, you presumbably have some awareness or capacity for understanding (otherwise why would care about heaven at all if you wouldn't notice one way or the other)
So, if a person can renounce their current beliefs at any time, and if all of a person's conscious life is merely a test (if you will) to get into heaven and a person's consciousness continues after death, couldn't they die and then realize that they were wrong and God did exist and renounce their beliefs then?

Why is their a differentientation between life on Earth and life not on Earth?
Amine B in particular, everyone in general: Wouldn't you rather people be given the opportunity to get into even after they die. Fairness doesn't really matter. It seems kind of whiny to say that it isn't fair. An analogy (which will of course break down as all analogies do) would be that before my sister was born I was an only child. It's not fair that my sister got to stay with my parents when I had known them longer than her. To my view, fairness doesn't really come into either case.

I will answer you from muslim point of view.
If you have an exam at the school, is it possible to change your answers after the exam finish and the teacher give you the answers ?
Its not fair that the student who was serious and prepared to the exam will get the same mark as the one who spent his time having fun !!!!!

I was raised baptist with that heaven and hell stuff and never did quite believe it. My own spirtual experiences since then point to our thinking and consciouness being the sole provider of the reality we are experiencing.
Then there is the research of Dr. Micheal Newton, as reported in his books 'Journey of Souls' and 'Destiny of Souls'. He reports on life between lives, ie, what happens after we die and what we do and how we decide to come back.
One of the funny things he says, is that in all the hundreds (thousands? ) of cases he has worked with NO ONE has been met by Jesus or Budda when they die!
Which is strange, because a lot of near-death experiences report being met by religious figures (and then told 'it's not your time, go back')
Another thing I really learned from these books is that we judge OURSELVES.. no external person, being, god judges us. We learn lessons and we seem to progress by the more we learn in terms of being kind, and all those high values. If we do something 'bad', we will at some point need to know what that felt like to be on the receiving end of the 'bad' we dished out. But how we experience that is of our own choice. (Not someone else's idea of punishment.)
So I don't believe in 'being saved' in the Christian sense.
Heaven is as much on Earth as it is in the spirit world, or any other planet, dimension or plane of existence.
Our soul and mind stays with us, it is the recorder of all our experiences.
Ramtha's 'Plane of Bliss' recordings and book (appears to be out of print) was the first material I heard/read on where we go after death.
I think just the fact that you can question this issue shows that you have a lot of doubts about 'beliefs' and surely you have a lot of questioning and realizing to do now, before you die!

if a person truely changes at heart god will see that and u will be saved by grace. life is not a mere series of test you should enjoy this life to the fullest one of the reasons why human beings are gifted is that your a spirit creature in the flesh rather then just a spirit . if u die and go to hell you become isolated from god the seperation becomes indefinate there is no second chance not for people nor for demons. this is why demons hate people so much because while you are alive u have alomost a infinite redemtion under gods laws for mankind.. Faith is a requirement from the most high. so you most make a decision now .. that is why you have scripture.

I appreciate your assumptions, but they are not quite Biblically correct. Believing in God and believing that you are a sinner and need a savior cannot come from your natural self or your flesh as the Bible calls it. The flesh can do nothing that pleases God. Those who are the elect or out called ones, come to Christ by God drawing them to Him. Not everyone is drawn to Christ. So, for a person to become a believer, God must draw them to Christ, awaken them from their dead state, indwell them with the Spirit, which opens your eyes and ears to the truth, that you are a sinner, and need a savior, and He gives you the faith to believe. He does not do this for everyone and it is not our choice or through our "free will", it is all a work of God.
Heaven is perfection, in all ways. Sin is not present and the results of sin, death, sickness, disease, etc.. are not present either. It is eternally in the presence of God. God leaves us here, as believers, to sanctify us, that is, to perfect us over our lifetime, conform us, spiritually and mentally, to be like Christ.
Once a person dies, they either enter eternity totally forgiven by the work of Christ, or die with unforgiven sin. Again, salvation is not our choice, so our eternal destiny is already determined.

Once your life on this earth ends and you did not believe in Christ as your saviour then you will go to hell. You can not change your mind after death, the time to chose is now!

No, I am sorry, but it does not work that way. It takes more than just believing. Jesus said that you MUST be "Born Again". That means that God has to give you Himself, the Holy Spirit. Read Acts 2:38 and read how to become "Born Again."

No. Once we die, our record book of our actions in this life is closed. God's judgment for you will be based on what you believed and did in this life and you are concious of your actions. An insane person will not be responsible for his actions just like innocent children. Even if you accept one and only God of Abraham, Moses Jesus and Mohammad an hour before you die, repent to God for forgivenss, you will be forgiven and may enter in heaven. Sooner you accept God and learn to live His way of life better will be for you. Because living rest of your life in the way he teaches in Divine books and through his Messenger Mohammad will be all to your credit to earn a higher level of heaven. You will enjoy peace of mind and heart and contentment that you are doing the right thing for rest of your life after you accept the real God. A Muslim believes and accepts all previous Prophets and Messengers like Abraham, Moses, Jesus also. Muslim can not deny about other Prophets and the books revealed to them also. Because they all were sent by same God. Denying about any one of them are their books will be like not believing God himself. Believing in Quran and living on its teachings is mandatory because it is the last Book of God which has not been altered by any man.

No, becaue you have to renounce your "current beliefs" before you die. Otherwise, you aren't really believing God and the Bible.
