Do you thik the U.S. can take Russia in a war?

I think since the U.S.S.R. fell, a lot of American's heads swelled, but could we REALLY fight Russia?

I think it would be a draw.

If we fight Russia and China at the same time, I think the U.S. is gonna go down no matter what we do.

I have no doubt that the U.S military will win over the Russia in a 1 v 1. But how do you define win? Imagine the the aftermath? Imagine the amount of troops to be stationed in Russia to create stability and the amount of money it would use to rebuild....it would be at least ten fold worst than Iraq or Afgan...

When you throw other factions in then it would be mayhem. And I'm not so sure about the odds on US and its allies winning then. As good as the U.S is there is only so much marines, special forces, armoured divisions, aircraft battle groups etc. and in a global conflict there are not enough of those to go around. Add China and India into the mayhem, You can effectively write off the rest of Asia and maybe even Australia. Should the Arabic States and African States decide to join them, Europe itself would be in danger....(I'm not talking about nukes as it's seems everyone is having it nowadays and no one has the capabilites to dealt with the after effects of a nuke blast be it New York City, London, Moscow or Beijing etc)

Quality vs Quantity may works well but can the US keeps up that Quality? Theres around 2.2million active troops in the Chinese army(lets not talk about their Standards). Theres another 7 million reserves and 200 million others fit for induction compared to the US 1.5million active and less than 1 million reserves and just under 70 million fit for induction. So how much can losses can the US take?

I remembering coming across a chinese general's comment, "So what if we lose a million or two" although i can't remember where I came across it but thats would be suffice to summarized my comments.

If the US cannot even convincingly win a war against a small and weak nation like Iraq, how would you expect it to win a far bigger nation with equally advanced weapons like Russia?. This is in spite of the fact that the invasion of Iraq was aided militarily by some coalition nations like Britain, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic and others?.

The Iraq War had been going on for six years now, still with no end in sight. Surely, you couldn't expect a war between US and Russia to last shorter than this.

Russia is used to fighting bitter wars in its history, and won despite the odds. Remember the outcome of Napoleon's invasion of Russia?. How about the Battle of Stalingrad where the Russians had beaten a far superior and better equipped Nazi armies?.

Russia has thousands of nuclear weapons too. And so does China. So, the US cannot clearly win in a nuclear war either.

Guys, I'm sorry to say this, but you're really crazy. I just don't understand why are you so hungry for someones blood. Has anyone thought about a consequence of that? I mean the consequences for the USA? If you nuke us, we nuke you, don't we?And even if not all missile will reach America, some will. And how many of your people will die? More than in all wars you've been combined, I guess. And this not includes solders. Is it a reall thing American nation wants?
and I don't really think, that the US can get a lot of allies for this war. Germany and France didn't go for Iraq. So why do think they would let you to involve them into this campaign? And they wouldn't appreciate you for a nuclear holocaust on their borders.
And apart this do you think we will ever give up? Or our air defence to be made of paper?
But anyway, if Russia and America nuke each other the whole world is going to be f*ck*d

I don't no why people think that just b/c America has a smaller army than china we would lose. Our tactics and technology are the best in the world. Our special operations of the military, NSA and CIA can weaken a country in there own ways with little conflict. Covert action brought down the soviets.

Russia is nothing. There just pissed at the world b/c they don't have any real power anymore. I mean for god sake they have a national holiday that is in place so they will have sex and make babies. There population is going down.

If ur judging our capabilities on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan i will warn u not too. We are trying to keep a situation under control without causing conflict. We are playing nice with Iraq and Afghanistan. Make a real war that America is behind and there is no single country that can stop the usa

First off this is not the first time this question has come up on here.
The current war in Iraq has proven that a very inferior force willing to engage in unsymetrical warfare has the ability to bog down US army.
The Russians have many weapons that are on a par with US equipment and they have shown in the past that they fight tenaciously to protect 'the mother land'. I believe that the result of any such adventure would be a bog that makes Vietnam and Iraq look like a church social. The use of Nuclear weapons would be an option of course, but a very dangerous one.

I believe that we would win a war with Russia, but it would be ugly. Alot of Russian military equipment is outdated and poorly maintained do to a lack of money. I firmly believe that if we went to war with Russia, china would have a hard time backing them just because they have such a large financial intrest in the US. For China to go to war with the US it would cause such a large financial impact on them.

You don't fight landwars in Asia. But I think Russia would be extremely easy to blockade. As far as China I think they could be a little bit tougher to isolate.

We can go right through both russia's and china's anti aircraft/missle defense and they have no way to stop us. We can destroy both of them at the same time with air bombing (nuclear)campaigns. They should not trifle with us.

There is a saying; "You can pull out an Americans hairs one by one and they will do nothing but grab a chunk at once and America will crush you"!

Yes, simply because their Navy and Air Force has dwindled. They can't even afford fuel to train newe pilots. It's pretty bad.

I don't see us ever going to war, nuclear proliferation is our deterent. And quite frankly, we can ignore them and go on our marry way.

If we go to war with China and Russia, it doesn't matter. Nuclear holocaust will block the sun, and everyone will eventually die...

No because the Russians have the Chinese behind them. What difference would it make anyhow? All three countries can destroy each other 20 times over anyway.
