Judith 8:7. And she was exceedingly beautiful, and her husband left her great riches, and very many servants, and large possessions of herds of oxen, and flocks of sheep.

Wow. That's pretty random. I thought I'd end up with a wise one. Like:....I don't know. Shakespearean stuff.

It reads much nicer in the Latin:

Erat autem eleganti aspectu nimis cui vir suus reliquerat divitias multas et familiam copiosam ac possessiones armentis boum et gregibus ovium plenas

Good stuff there! Sounds like a typical California divorce.

It means that things were the same back then as now. If a woman is good looking she can get whatever she wants. Of course what would I do with a herd of oxen???

Would have been mere likely to find some wisdom if you had actually used the Bible. There is no book of Judith in any Christian bible.

there is no book of Judith in the Holy Bible...instead listen to this
Song of Songs 2:1-6 and 14

Beloved: I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys-

Lover: Like a lily among thorns is my darling among maidens.

Beloved: Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest. is my lover among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love. His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.

Lover: My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

How about this one:

Mt ch 5: In all things, do to others as you would have them do to you.

I wish more people who like the bible would quote this.
